One of those parents who was handcuffed and subsequently threatened by the cops for talking to the media, eventually got past them. Angeli Rose Gomez had no weapon, no body armour and, of course, no back up. She went into the school and got her kids out. Because she had the one essential thing: the courage to do what was necessary.

Former US Army here. Had the Army been faced with this scenario and performed as the cops did, the 'internal' military tribunal called the court martial, couldn't put us in prison fast enough. Curious to know if you were being ordered to hold your position by your commander and you went in anyway resulting in the deaath of a child, would you make out okay at a tribunal? Or would you be reminded that the reason you follow orders is because command has more information than you and they knew the timing was wrong. Perhaps command learned about an IED (like in Colombine) and needed the entry team to hold pending confirmation however you kick the door in and set it off, killing several children. Maybe waiting to find out what is revealed in the final investitaton is the best action at this time instead of uninformted reactionary condemnation.

But it is not the same scenario that is the problem with this. Police are trained to wait for SWAT when they believe it is a hostage situation. If the police go in all guns blazing and children die they will then be charged with murder even though they should not be. Look at how George Floyd died of a drug overdose yet the all the police officers had their lives destroyed even those that did not have their hands on Floyd. Many cities cannot even hire cops anymore because no right minded person would do it. There have been situations where officers have resigned to become unemployed as the job is simply unmanageable.

There are millions of incidents of heroic officers - NONE are during school shootings (save for those two cops).

The only training you need is courage. The battlefield soldier of World War 1 was age 17. He had basic training. His Uvalde lasted years and included being shelled by canons. Some maddening revalations from the incident: They confronted this dude BEFORE he entered the building because he crashed his car They let the shooter enter the school through the back do with little to no resistance They lied about barricading him in a classroom. He did that himself after killing everyone in there. They lied about him having body armor. He had a tactical vest with no plates. They lied about the school safety officer confronting him early on. He wasn't even there initially. They arrested and tased parents trying to save their kids once it became clear they were pussies. There were cops who went in to save their own kids and left. They lied about having to bash in the door. Border patrol police simply got the key and went in They entered 2 minutes after the shooter but it took nearly 1 1/2 hrs to take him out. They lied about officers' injuries. The extent, how many officers and how they were received. They lied about the "lull in action". They were still kids alive needing medical attention. They didn't fail because of training. They failed because they were too scare to implement it. The cops are hiding from investigators and those in charge have their own security details.

Retired cop here. The LAST thing officers and agencies want to do is actual scenario-based training. Putting a powerpoint together outlining what to do in an active shooter and calling that training is a bunch of crap. Unless the training encompasses scenarios with role-players as victims and offenders, noise, simunition rounds, and including the local fire and EMS, then it's NOT ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING! If you tell to someone that is weaker, less qualified, worse in every way, that they arent, the they are just as good as the rest, when you don't teach kids about failure but shield them from it and so on, and say that you being weak, worse, is societies fault and that if you are poor, its certainly not yours or natures fault, if you are depressed, its certainly not because of your choices, but its society that is to blame and you ought to receive money and help, that erodes acountability. If you fail, you get help, if you succeed, you are asked to pay. A few years ago, I heard screaming from an apartment across the street. A friend let me into the building and we broke the door down. It turned out that it was a mental health/drug problem. She wasn't being attacked. A long time later, the police turned up. They did their job, took her to the hospital, and interviewed us. It all worked out. They took too long to turn up in the first place, though, and if something serious had been happening, it would have been up to us to deal with it. After being searched with my hands in the air, the first question I was asked was, "why didn't you call us?" We did. It just took too long for anyone to show up, and we we weren't willing to take the chance.

I lived in North Hollywood when the infamous "North Hollywood Shootout" occurred. When you watch the historical videos, spokespersons and police officials state over and over how the police at the scene did their jobs the way they were trained. It's a lie. From the very start, the police arrived en masse and blocked all avenues of escape while the shooters were STILL in the bank....which is exactly the opposite of what doctrine instructed them to do. It's incredible the shooters did NOT take hostages after the first police mistake. The entire episode was a disaster that most likely could have been avoided, if the police had followed their own training. Side fact...during the shootout, police went over to B&B Guns to borrow AR-15s and long guns. Those guns were never returned and the police never paid B&B for them. (I bought all my firearms from B&B when I lived in LA.)

No. The cops jobs are NOT to protect you. Why don't you know that it is NOT the government's job and legal duty to protect YOU? They're law enforcement, not your own personal body guard who can be sued if at any time, anywhere they have a legal obligation to protect you and will be sued if for whatever reason they don't "protect" you. It is YOUR job to protect yourself. Funny how so many goofy liberals actually think it's the cops jobs to protect them! Usually the same people who also don't want people to have guns too. April 92. Never forget. The fake news media and Democrats never want to mention that LA went to hell. Cops did nothing. Koreans ( and guns) weren't having it. Cops job to protect you! Court of Appeals held that police have a general "public duty," but that "no specific legal duty exists" unless there is a special relationship between an officer and an individual, such as a person in custody. As such, we can't rely or depend upon law enforcement. When seconds count and police are minutes away.

As a retired LEO, I can tell you the exact reason those cops didn't go in.........because they hire cops for their people skills now, not their warrior mentality. I got transferred because I was too willing to put myself in danger and the "brass" thought I had a death wish. Nope, just doing the Fing job you hired me to do. They department I worked for wants to hire type B personalities now and can't figure out why criminals are becoming emboldened and cops are quitting after a few years on and their first fist fight or gun fight. On multiple occasions the cops I worked with or myself ran into gunfights, burning buildings, and put themselves at danger on a weekly basis. We chalked injuries and damaged equipment to CDB (cost of doing business). I crawled into a burning car to help the suspects I was chasing get out of their wrecked cars. Had to be checked out by the ambulance for smoke inhalation. Got threatened with suspension. Now, the powers that be are more worried about lawsuits and overhead than they are about the public we serve. Look at your typical cop now. Most departments have gotten rid of or dumbed down their physical standards because they want to let people in that are more social worker than protector. They hire a emotional support labrador to do the job of a pit bull.

@@JDela10 The evidence is not clearly to the contrary. They regularly kill unarmed citizens during traffic stops because they are over aggressive and scared of their own shadows. They are also never held accountable for their murders. From a New York Times article 10/31/21: "The deaths are among a series of seemingly avoidable killings across the United States. Over the past five years, a New York Times investigation found, police officers have killed more than 400 drivers or passengers who were not wielding a gun or a knife, or under pursuit for a violent crime - a rate of more than one a week. Most of the officers did so with impunity. Only five have been convicted of crimes in those killings, according to a review of the publicly reported cases. Yet local governments paid at least $125 million to resolve about 40 wrongful-death lawsuits and other claims. Many stops began with common traffic violations like broken taillights or running a red light; relative to the population, Black drivers were overrepresented among those killed. The recurrence of such cases and the rarity of convictions both follow from an overstatement, ingrained in court precedents and police culture, of the danger that vehicle stops pose to officers. Claiming a sense of mortal peril - whether genuine in the moment or only asserted later - has often shielded officers from accountability for using deadly force." Here's a link to the rest of the article: www.nytimes.com/2021/10/31/us/police-traffic-stops-killings.html

I wish more people understood this ruling. They aren’t obligated to go into harms way, at least not legally. To play devil’s advocate, would the cops not be able to say they were trying to stop the parents from entering the school, to prevent them from becoming victims of the shooter themselves, aka cops trying to prevent more loss of life (the parents lives)? I guess that would imply that the children were already considered gone at that point.

Was on hold for 10 min & it took them 2hrs to get there.. and I was in the city, not rural. By then he was gone, but I had to beg them to even check behind my building. He’d broken in, sprayed acid doing 20k in damage & tried to kill my cat & me. The FEMALE officer tried for 30 min to talk me OUT of filing a police report. She literally said to me “This isn’t CSI, it’s not like we’re going to take fingerprints or anything.” I still can’t wrap my brain around it. they didn’t want to do anything. Looked disgusted & annoyed to be there, even as the acid meant we couldn’t even breathe in the house. No one told me about victims services. They didn’t care AT ALL & I was so messed up from severe abuse & brain injury their inaction nearly got me killed. If I’d had any support I would have sued them. It’s common.

You could have scrolled past but no, you just had to step in to chastise them for "ignoring red flags" and point out that YOU would never get yourself into such a situation. Well good for you I guess? While I agree that often there are obvious red flags that need to be paid attention to coming in after the fact to blame the victims is not helping anyone. Abusers are often masters of manipulation who hide their dark side until they have made their victims dependent on them financially, emotionally or otherwise. For example "love bombing" is one technique pioneered by cult leaders that I have witnessed being used on people very effectively. Also it is a proven fact that the most dangerous time for a woman in one of these relationships is when she leaves and sometimes they stay because it's better to be abused but still alive than dead. The best thing we can do is teach our daughters (and sons too!) how to avoid getting invested in relationships with these people. To that end, I recommend a book called "The Gift of Fear" that clearly lays out all the manipulation techniques and red flags to look out for

There are millions more lives saved every year by self defense uses of firearms. The terms used on this show alone aren’t even real gun terms and most of the audience I would venture to guess have no idea either.

@@ryanmartin8954 there is no such thing as a natural right. all rights are given by laws and laws only have meaning when a government enforces them.

At the end of the day, it is finally the real difference between a soldier and a cop. While one group are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice whenever they're called upon; the other are taught that there is nothing more dear in this world than their own lives. And as a result, they shoot first and ask questions later when ever presented with anything vaguely threatening, and cower in fear of their own lives when presented with something actually threatening.

They are also told to be predators and that the public is prey and of they do not like that idea they should quit.

The difference is that soldiers, if confronted by a gunman in a ambush scenario, call in an airstrike and saturate the area with suppressing fire, and frankly don't have to care about 'collateral damage'....police don't quite have those options available to them...

You'd be amazed how many soldiers are just like those cops. I served with a good number of cowards who always found excuses not to put themselves at risk, even though it put others at risk and jeopardized the mission.

Agree with Bill 100% on this. Policing is a hard job, yes. But, the job is to PROTECT and SERVE. If you aren't game to put your life on the line to save some little kids then you do not belong in that job.

Hmmm…paying people to act and they don’t do their jobs…sounds like our politician’s. It’s sad.

Watch "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" episode with Bill. Notice how pale his skin is. It's absolutely insane. Makes you realize how much makeup they cake on him before every "Real Time" show just to made him not look like a cadaver.

From actual dialogue between the cops in the school hallway: "I recommend we set up an interdepartmental committee, with fairly broad terms of reference, so that at the end of day we will be able to see through all the implications and take a decision based on long-term considerations, rather than rush prematurely into precipitate or ill-conceived action that might well have unforeseen repercussions." (Sir Humphrey Appleby on the British TV show "Yes, Minister.")

I have seen a video asking an important question, How did an 18 year old get over $5000 to purchase 2 rifles, ammunition and 30 round magazines and no one not notice?
