Rear Lights Wiring XVS V Star 650 Bobber Build

With the rear lights and indicators mounted, it's time to make up and fit the wiring so that it fits the standard Yamaha XVS wiring plug to allow easy change when swapping out the stock rear fender

Jut popping back to this video to say thank you, I was going to pay someone to do my indicator wiring but after seeing this I plucked up the courage to do it myself and now they finally work! The wiring was a mess but now looks good :) cheers buddy

Yes, that's brilliant sleeving. Used same on my xv 500. You push quite a big connector through it and just cut the end of...or burn it with a lighter, so it melts. Worked pretty well for me.

Hey David , lovely to see you brother. The lights look really smart and the braiding effect is a great touch ,I see Mackie's doing the same on his "caff" as I would and no doubt will next time i have a project ..its great to pick up these little bits from friends on "the tube" after all that's what its's all about so i thank you both for that ..hope the bones are healing well ..i'm daring to go to Mackies do tomorrow ..it will be a miracle as every time i plan to meet anyone something bad happens 😠 but at this point the night before i'm actually healthy for once 👍🏻👍🏻 so i hope i make the 100 miles in one piece 🤔 oh ..too be young again. any how David peace and love brother ..would love to see you tomorrow but i know that's a big ask with your recent injury, you must be careful as i know you will.. all the best take it easy my friend 👍🏻👍🏻☮☮❤❤

Hey David! Great job... again!!! I have a XVS 650 2008 since 2014 and the electrical part was a mess, gift from the last owner.... I have made some modifications too, but here in Brazil some original parts are a little be difficult to find or very expensive to buy in Yamaha... I know I have said this before, but I will say again... Great videos, tools and explanations!!!

I’m running led lights on my 650 but taillight has a bad earth how do I go about locating this ?

The stock setup doesn't earth through the mudguard but directly back into the main loom. As with all electrical faults, one wire at a time. Check the connector inside the side panel where the rear end lights connect into the main loom, then if that earth is good, work your way back. Depends how the lights have been connected but it should be easy enough to find. Good luck!
