Main reasons why you should pursue a career as a nursing assistant. I speak on myths about being a CNA, as well as the true pros to this position. I was a nursing assistant for three years before i became a nurse, and i think CNAs make better nurses because they are much more well rounded in healthcare. Comment your thoughts!

I did the CNA course at age 57 (older than the instructor). Children were grown. Parents deceased. Knew the difference between working. hard and working smart. Prioritize well. Working out helps too! I just viewed your Leaving The Unit video. I have spent the last two years in LTC, and I am about skilled out (we did no vitals except monthly weights, could only empty the cath/col). I applied at a local hospital as a PCT, only asking that I be placed where the need was greatest. I begin in ICU/IMC next week!

You are such a kind soul. Your patients are lucky!! I want to become a CNA because for years I've been interested in nursing but I pursue different career goals. Now I am 29 and I love the idea being a CNA in a hospital. I really think I'm going to take the course to become one. This is one of the few positive videos I saw on being a CNA. I know it's a lot of physical work but I want to experience what it is like to work in healthcare. I'm crazy, right? 🤣

But I agree with what people have said too, Nurses who were once CNAs have been the best Nurses because they help out when needed and they even help transport and feed. There’s a lot of lazy nurses who wouldn’t even bat an eye on CNAs or even think of helping. I don’t like working with those lazy Nurses who just sits in the Nurse’s station on their phone and gets mad at you for some reason.

Great question,great answer! I’m going into a skilled facility nursing home with ZERO experience getting $18 an hour whos going to pay for my CNA. In turn, I have to work for them for 18 months. I’m cool with that. I’ll get the experience I need and then I can move on to a hospital near me whos paying CNAS $28 for nights and will pay for my RN…IF I find where I’m starting has no growth opportunity for more pay and tenure positions.🙌🏽

Were you required to retire? Can't you just go back to work as a nurse? Perhaps as a supervisor? You're more educated than a CNA! But if you want to do CNA work, why not? You might need a different license. Can't you get your nursing license renewed? Nurses get paid much more, despite what this guy says, and it's the CNA's who do the dirty work.

Not only that,in rancho los amigos L A county they train you to do the enemas. The Rn insert it and the NA remove it. Let me remind you everybody in California if you work 8 hours legally you have to take 2 breaks of 15min and your 30min lunch . If you do not ask for your last 15 for sure they will not ask you if you want to take it. If you work 12hours you suppose to take 3 breaks of 15 and your 30 lunch .It is the law one more time if you do not ask for your 15 THEY ARE NOT GOING TO ASK YOU every day of work you have to make sure about it.check the hospital policy, contracts if they tell you I DO NOT HAVE A NURSE AID on the floor, the Cn or the RN has to give your breaks if you do not want to take these breaks is up to you.
@knottsberryfarm4207
@knottsberryfarm4207 2 жыл бұрын
I almost forgot this, every time that the charge nurse do not give you any break THE HOSPITAL HAS TO PAY YOU EVERYTIME THAT YOU DO NOT TAKE YOUR 15s or lunch make sure to know how to do this process to pay you. If you do not want to get pay is up to you.Unfortunally you have to struggle every day of work for your breaks which are your rights Labor LAW and Federal one.

Here in California if you are working only a part time you ask to the nursing school for financial aid, I did qualified and the government paid for CNA, HHA and RNA in 3 months every one is a different case try. But let me tell you they have their rules and you have to do everything they tell you for example no absents,be on time do not leave school early, you have to get at least a C on everything and after you pass the course they will tell how many years or months you have to work as NA if you do not follow everything they will cancel $$$$ and you have to pay for the course.
