@Baking_MD3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately the path to medicine is stressful and long hours. But, I can suggest debt free ways: 1) There are a few medical schools that offer free tuition (ie. NYU) 2) You can go to the military path, but will need to repay in years of service (HPSP)
@user-mj7ny7ce6x2 жыл бұрын
go to Europe for med school, entrance is usually easier if you do your research, usually it is much cheaper than the us. you can go to public schools in the UK or Ireland (competitive entrance) , or eastern European and even Italy offer English medical courses. you can also go hardcore , learn a local langauge, and study in Germany or Spain ( I have met expats studying medicine in these countries so yeah nothing is impossible or even difficult). life and studies in Europe are not a piece of cake but I feel have less of a ''RISE AND GRIND'' mentality compared to USA medical schools. also medical school is stressful, BUT ANY UNIVERSITY IS STRESSFUL, I wish someone told me this when I Was young instead of brainwashing me into thinking only type A geniuses go to med school, it is not true, I swear the parrots I studied with (including me) I wish someone told me that...

Hey there! Prospective Medical student here, I was curious if you could explain what it is that Pathologists actually do. Research into the topic yields little results, and I usually get information on “Forensic Pathologists.” Frankly, being a Pathologist sounds amazing, but I don’t think I have a grasp on what it actually is outside of the often cited “Forensic Pathology.” Also, I was wondering why average pay is cited as being around 300k, but specialized Pathologists have an income statement way below that (much lower than 200k). Am I just reading the CAP’s financial information wrong?

@Baking_MD2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am so sorry this is happening to you. 14 hour everyday seems long even for a first year resident, and it is completely OK in my opinion to just go home and rest after such long days. It seems a little unreasonable for your supervisors to expect you to spend time reading textbooks when you work those hours. My best recommendation is to talk to your peers and see if others are also working such long hours, and to talk to a more senior resident (maybe your chief resident). They might be able to give you tips on how to be more efficient or give you more insight on what is happening. I'm sorry I can't say much more without knowing more of your situation.

How can I be sure that I will be interested in reading and interpreting slides all day . Unfortunately we dont have clinical rotations in pathology here.

My best advise is to do an observership at an place that offers clinical rotation. Pathology in practice is very different than what you are exposed to in 2nd year of med school.

The most important reason you didn’t or didn’t want to mention is that pathology is almost least competitive, therefore almost easiest to get matched.

Haha, that is a true statement; however, my goal with this channel is to reach out to more medical students regardless of their stats.
