Steelheart was late to the party and hair metal became so pop diluted by then that songs such as this one are so god damn cringy that it's a good thing it's dead and gone. Miljenko was a very good singer but the songs he sang are a prime example of why grunge killed the genre.

The singer is Miljenko Matijevic, he is Croatian by birth. His (and Steelheart's) story is truly tragic: as if it wasn't bad enough that they started their pop metal careers right before Nirvana came along and basically killed the genre, Matijevic was nearly _literally_ killed by a 1,000 pound lighting truss which fell on him during a show. It took years of rehabilitation, but he did eventually return to the stage and re-formed the band. If you've ever seen the Mark Wahlberg film "Rock Star", it was Steelheart (and Matijevic) who performed the movie band's signature song, "We All Die Young"...which is a phenomenal song, as well. Truly an inspirational person in every sense of the word.
@TheHAZ19833 жыл бұрын
Indeed! You pointed the question out too well and it does is a tragedy as this band should probably had become a great band or something if they had popped up on the right time. I'm a great fan of this genre so I'm kinda suspicious to tell but this is top 3 by far on my opinion.

He suffered quite extensive injuries.. broken jaw.. partially crushed skull from what I recall.. and he also suffered as what was later diagnosed as a brain injury from it. Since I was a teenager all through the 80s I believe I can honestly say that Miljenko had the best voice of any male lead singer solo or 8n a band, he's only second to Steve Perry period!! 80s rock has delivered once again..

IMO maybe better than Perry.

I really like Perry......but he is way above Steve Perry.

Couldn’t agree more. Could you imagine Steve and Mike together on stage together??? OMG. I’d give up my retirement to see that.

Obviously his manager didn’t see to it that he got the recognition he deserved. This is the only song I ever heard on the radio by Steelheart. With a voice like that, anything he sang should have been played. He could sing the telephone book and I’d listen. 😂❤

React to Steve Perry from Journey ❤️ Basically ANY song he sings is like a warm blanket oF EMOTION

I like how the three times you went *ship* were during Steelheart Songs. I like how giddy you get when these men hit the high notes; Miljenko Matijevic, Geoff Tate, and Sebastian Bach particularly. Thank you for your reactions and I look forward to many more.

He has always hit these notes, new material too

He is also the singer for the movie Rock Star with Mark Wahlberg.

What always kills me is Rebecca explains everything down to a fine tee; like the best music teacher of all time, has another look, then as casually as anything hits the hardest high note ever like it was nothing. RESPECT

I remember seeing Steelheart for the first time on MTV in the summer of 1990. The track is called "Can't stop me lovin' you". The vocal performance is out of this world.

Him and Jeff Soto were3 the vocalist for the movie Rock Star. Stand up and shout.. all die young... great songs
@ViciousAlienKlown5 жыл бұрын
It was actually a Steelheart song from the late 80s. He returned to do the vocals after all those years and nailed it.
@R20set5 жыл бұрын
He was the voice for Mark Wahlberg. Jeff Scott Soto was the voice for the original Steel Dragon singer Bobby Beers and Myles Kennedy did Thor, if i remember correctly.

That was Ripper Owens
@ViciousAlienKlown5 жыл бұрын
@@stevenverner6546 The movie Rock Star was based on Ripper when he replaced original lead singer Rob Halford of Judas Priest. This movie was about that change. They even included the fact that the original lead singer in Steel Dragon was gay just like Rob Halford is in real life.

R20set that sounds about right although I think they took a bit of license with their matching of voices to singers :) and Myles Kennedy didn’t only voice Thor he played him as well!
