Welcome to my video on the Moebius USS Kelvin. I built this model as if it might have appeared in the Original Star Trek series. I hope that you enjoy this video :)

Also one of my all time favorite ships. So simple, elegant, AND jarring lol. Great job!

Thanks Ron :) I'm really glad you liked the video. I'm working on my narrations to be more fluid and less robotic, I guess I just need more practice :)

Quite possibly the coolest theme of TOSing a JJ verse starship! As the first comment, this is an amazing job!

Another awe-inspiring build, loved the 'Aztec' method. Will give that a try on my next model build. Will write to you in the near future. Jerry

Thanks as always Jerry, I look forward to your letter :) Best of luck with your own azteking, it's a lot of work doing it the way I did, I think next time I'll buy some precut masks.

That looks really cool and the back dating to TOS worked out fantastically. Also thanks for showing how to do the Aztecing.

I really like what you did...especially the warp nacelle painting/decals. By the way, I like your choice of music as well. Ty for sharing. The more I watch, the more I learn.

Great video, learned a lot about materials I have not used before, especially the super glue, I've been looking for a strong one for quite some time.

I really appreciate and enjoyed your build video. And the build turned out absolutely amazing. Very nice work and your attention to detail on the Kelvin is fantastic. I also appreciate how you explained ( very clearly ) each step as you went along. Thanks for sharing this build with us fellow builder's.👍

🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done indeed and very nicely executed and very nicely informatively explained while proceeding with the build in every way shape and form and detail provided indeed, And it's very cool and very nicely wonderfully looking after it was all finished with, I to plan on building mine more TOS looking as well but I plan on also adding a smaller pendant to the secondary hull as well I have a lot of after market decal sheets and changing the registry number to NCC-1514 cause in the original TOS there are no 0's before the numbers after 99 after wards it just all larger numbers like from 100 and up and so forth, Any ways your model came out very great looking and a job very nicely done indeed!,👌.

Excellent work on what you did with the model. Though it's not reallly TOS style but more of TMP (The Motion Picture) style. TOS style is basically smooth lighter gray and dark gray hull, orange buzzard collector, and dark gray being used on the ends of the nacelle and impulse drive. What you have created is is from the The Motion picture era. Where the ships were brighter and had aztecing and the ships were more areodynamic. But thats okay. Still good job

That looks great! I've heard good things about Moebius' car kits, but I have seen much about their sci fi kits. I'd love to know how you can airbrush with an almost full paint cup and not spill any. I have a hand covered in red paint trying to paint a car body with a fairly full cup.

I also have the same problem, In my case I blame🤫 being left handed. That works for a multitude of sins

I've spilled it a few times before, I honestly don't really think about it that much. I love my airbrush, but I do with that the paint cup was bigger.

THIS is the JJ-Ent version of the TOS-Hermes & Saladin-classes. VERY WELL done. Did mobius produce any other of the JJ-Ent ships seen leaving space dock?

The only other release was the USS Franklin. Moebius had originally planned on Spock's Jellyfish Ship and the Enterprise A. Sadly, Moebius went out of business and was bought out my Pegasus Hobbies, and since then they haven't made either of these kits.

Nice job with the Aztecing. Not sure if I'd have the patience for that. Got a laugh when you said you questioned yourself when doing some things, making a simple build harder. I do that all the time. I always look to see how I can tweak (and hopefully improve) a build, but then wonder if it was worth the trouble. And then do it again for the next model.

I seem to do that a lot with my projects, I often curse myself for not keeping a model simple. Though the end result might be worth it, I'm just too impatient with my projects :)

Nice job sanding off the 'damage' plates. Those plates actually weren't there because of some 'damage' pre movie. But rather, they were there to make the CG model look more detailed in that area, as that is right where the camera passed tightly over the hull right at the beginning of the movie. Moebius (the kit manufacturer) has traditionally been pretty lazy when it comes to analyzing the source data that they get from their various sources. They didn't stop and ask, why are those plates only in that area. On other kits that they produced like their big TOS Cylon raider, they laser scanned the kit from an existing resin kit, that was asymmetrical. They never went through and looked at the data files and realized that their source material was asymmetrical and so those imprefections creep into their kits. Their TOS Battlestar Galcatica was laser scanned from the Timeslip Creations resin kit, and again, the imperfections of that kit made their way into the injection molded kit.
