Animal rescue would have likely put it out of its misery. That deer was old enough for capture myopathy to be a real danger, so with how long they would have had to keep it captive in order to treat that leg, it would have died anyways.

I appreciate the fact that she was noble enough to stop and film this for literally millions of people to see instead of help her husband save an additional 30 seconds which probably would have amounted to nothing as far as the deer was concerned. May as well have a snack in the interim. Good on her, smart lady!

In the country the only animal rescue is the man right there. Unfortunately this happens fairly often, and most of the time the farmer is too late to do a durn thing. For this reason it is handy to keep a bolt cutter in the truck.

I own a few hundred acres in south Texas, my neighbor owns 40,000, we have white tail and mule deer, so I know a little about deer in fences. 🦌 My fine mother is about to turn 96, so I don't NEED another one.
