This is the inside story of the Rebirth of an Icon: The Ford Focus RS. We follow the team from the design studio to the test track as they try to revive a famous name.
Superstar Ken Block and Ford Motor Company Group Vice President of Product Development Raj Nair visit a top-secret test facility at Ford Motor Company World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich., to drive an early prototype of the Focus RS.

Raj seems like a cool guy with an awesome position at Ford. Wish I would had pushed my degree towards Car development and design. And haha. I probably would have been a photographer that would have climbed a wall just to get a glimpse of greatness. :)

Thomas Gillotti Personally, some wagons are growing on me. I'd have to say this is a hatch NOT wagon and if you have seen the Focus Sedan, you would not want an RS version of that hahaha.

+Thomas Gillotti Sucks to be you. I love the convenience of a hatchback, as well as the look. Was disappointed that they got rid of the hatch of the WRX, but hey, the last gen looked better anyway, lol. But hey, that's just me. I love my 2014 Mazda 3 hatchback, and would either love this RS or a new Speed3.

I own a Fiesta ST and very happy with it. My plan is to get Focus RS but I think I'll wait a year to get slightly used. Let the first owner take the financial hit ;)

The important thing they are missing is dual-clutch (padle shifting) and a little more power would have be appriciated. Though i love the feature that this awd can send more than 70% torque to rear wheels which is way better than vw golf r and nini noos. but with all other features i would be happy to pay $5k-$10k more.

You cannot actually order in the US until the 12th. That is when order banks open. Dealers may have told differently to you though.

I went to go put one on order about a week ago but they aren't able to give a price yet. the only option is an interior package called 600A from the list that I went over with the salesman. I want to order one in whatever the rarest color will be and the rarest options but it looks like the nitrous blue with the matching interior stitching may be the only limited option or special options. does anyone have any info on this, I'd like to do the Frost White with the blue interior accents if possible. is the nitrous blue flame the only "special" color for the vehicle so far? I am hoping to have one by January,but my salesman was unsure about a lot of information on this car. I really want this car! I hope they got most of the bugs worked out for this first round of RS models coming to the U.S.!!!

Love the direction Ford went with the ST models. It's just a shame it took 30 years for them to bring the RS to US. I had a 1st run Focus SVT back in the day, laughable compared to what Ford was giving overseas customers. Well designed cars should be a global trend, not a market niche.

1 minute in and I'm already concerned this is an effort to please all with too much US involvement. RS' are conceived and enjoyed in Europe, derived from European Fords.

Hey Raj... how about fixing that head gasket, and maybe next time a closed deck for the engine so we don't have as much wear on the gasket... oh and how about fixing the PTU leaks. Why did you sign off Raj? You knew it wasn't ready, reliability hadn't been tested and here we are... an FAS on ALL (Global) vehicles having the head gasket replaced... I wonder how many vehicles are going to be screwed up just because techs can't install a gasket properly. First time I ever bought a FORD... and it will be my LAST!!! Back to Subaru and the STi.

this is the only rs to date which is not deserving of the rs name, its a disgrace to its legendary predecessors. motorsport makes an rs, and this has nothing whatsoever to do with motorsport. this is jus a modern xr4x4. and an ugly one at that.

This is a discrace. rs should be bred through motorsport. its the motorsport pedigree that makes them special. without the motorsport background the rs1600, rs1800, rs2000, rs200, Sierra rs cosworth, rs500 cosworth, escort rs cosworth all would have been hopeless. but sat in a Sierra cosworth you feel like andy rouse, in an rs1600 or rs1800 you feel like roger clark or ari vatenen etc. where's the motorsport version of this car. With homologation legendary cars were built, bring back group a. wrc is dreadful, it has no value to the manufacturers as it's not advertising their cars, it's advertising cars that aren't for sale. so what's the point. all legendary cars of this type stem from motorsport, whether its one above or a delta integrale or e30 m3. don't just build a fast ford and put an rs badge on it. build an rs or don't bother. as you haven't built a true rs for nearly 2 decades. and surely that fact is humiliating. After 15 years of rubbish vw made a proper gti with the mk5. so learn from your selves, you've got it right before.
