It's happened but been decades. Pat Riley obv coached showtime Lakers, but he was also on the 72 Lakers championship team. A few of the 60s Celtics were also head coach for a champion Celtics team (Bill Russell, Tom Heinsohn, K.C. Jones). But yeah, in terms of modern NBA it's never been done.

Once Princess LeGM leaves we will be rolling with a byron scott/nick van exel caliber lineup till super stars feel it's safe to come back again. If lebron has anything in common with kobe..it's that they both prevented the team from getting better players

Yeah if Luka wins a championship, his legacy changes. He may not have the regular season MVP but he honestly deserved. Of the four players to get first place mvp votes, he was the only one to make Conference finals

Well that is a bad argument. This is a team sport while MVP award is individual. I'm not saying Luka couldn't have won. I'm just saying it is not relevant what happens in the playoffs as it was awarded for the regular season and for personal achievments. Ps.: Imo, he should have been second sfter Jokic this year.

@@nyarizsolt4525the playoffs clarifies what happened in the regular season. So it does still matter to the regular season MVP. The fact that Jokic and Shai are eliminated shows that what they supposedly achieved in their regular season records was not nearly as impressive as it seemed.

@@dpend The playoffs actually are a different thing than the regular season, so how you perform in the playoffs doesn't affect MVP voting. The MVP is a regular season award that gets voted on before the playoffs actually.

@@dpend Wishful thinking. If you think others should have won, that could be okay. But there are so many factors. Teammates, coaches, opponents etc. And since this is a regular season award, it is irrelevant what happens after. Plus in regular season the games are much different then in playoffs. Some can be better in regular seasons and choke in po, and vice versa. For example everyone knew that Westbrook won't be champion but he deserved the award that year for the outstanding regular season.

I don't think Haliburton would be #1 Pacer all time even with a ring. Reggie Miller played his entire 18 year Hall of Fame career for the team and was the best shooter of all time at the time. The difference of accolades of Miller and Haliburton isn't magically nullified by one singular ring in a team sport. Those 1990s Pacers teams were legit contenders and would have won it all if not for that Bulls team in the same division. MJ denying rings to Hall of Famers is often misused, but Miller seems one of the ones that counted for. I know this team hasn't won an NBA chip so far, but Indiana is not that poverty that their all time player ranking is suddenly shifted.

He’s not MJ, and his spotlight as the main guy came more in the mid 2000’s to late 2000’s when he started winning, but he still was part of that Mount Rushmore in the NBA. I think it would mean more to Minnesota personally. Indy at least had and has the colts plus a pretty big college basketball legacy. Minnesota hasn't had any major sports titles since like 91 and no team has made it to the championship in that span either. Unless you want to talk about the wnba but that's not a big enough league to matter rn as it's not watched or cared about enough. The wolves also have no rings either. I'd honestly like to see one of the two win it all.

Did you notice that any of the 4 remaining teams don't have neither MVP ou FMVP in their ranks? It is pretty rare to win without neither one or the other. On the 30 previous years. Only Raptor 2019 and Piston 2004 don't have any MVP in their rank. Since Raptor 2019 have Kawai Leonard who was FMVP in 2014 only Piston 2004 have neither one or the other.
