In last weeks episode of Muscle Garage we checked out Dave’s 1972 Ford Fairmont XA.
This XA coupe was given a full-blown upgrade to make it a super slick machine with plenty of grunt and detail.

Looked a lot like a Torino with the tail lights/rear facia of a Maverick here in the U.S. I’ve always believed you Aussies got the best Cleveland’s and you took them to their intended performance place of Glory. I’ve noticed you do a great job on the Windsor since you’ve gotten those as well. Great job guys!

The coupes looked tuffer than the sedans, even in the Holden’s of the same era. In my opinion, the v/late 60’s & 70’s were Holden & Fords best muscle car era.

That would be my dream car. Ever since I was a kid I loved the XA coupe look, inside and out. This one is perfect. Fantastic job and thanks for sharing!

Subtle mods really work (that bonnet!) I especially admire the choices for the interior leather trim and seating. A front to back stunner. Well done.

A beautiful resto/mod of what I also consider the best of that era! My late father here in Australia had a XA Ford Superbird coupe, 302 in 1977. I had a few envious mates at school😡 My dad actually came across a XA GT 351 coupe a couple of years later & we went to have a look at it for me to buy. Trying to be a responsible 19 year old 2nd year apprentice stupidly declined dad’s offer as guarantor at the bank. Biggest regret of my life for many years! 😭 Enjoy it Dave, you’ve got a great car to be proud of. Cheers from “Across The Ditch”😎👍🏼🇦🇺

Wow! This is the dream XA brother, Well done! The rear interior looks more spacious than I remember it having..& all leather is just right on the money. It's not an original anymore but it's a great rendition, in almost every way it's a better designed version... I'd love to have one built the same way but kept original in body..

My boss,Jack Smith in New Plymouth owned the first one to arrive in NZ. It was a very impressive car. Jack said he heard of a guy in Aussie that could get the wheels to smoke at 80 mph. I thought,fuck me,thats awesome!! Another worker,who had a Hillman hunter said,yea,so what?? My car can do that if I yank the hand brake on!!! I didnt dare laugh,Jack was PISSED!!!

Why take a classic car like this beautiful piece of art.. and then just completely fuck it with modern update! It's looks like absolute shit compared to the stock original look!
