My Delica petrol just clocked 400k many of them off-road tracks development Rds etc never been rebuilt motor unopened still running fine I believe as a mechanic/engineer of 40yrs that reliability is not dedicated to certain brands all cars have problems most of which can be prevented when armed with knowledge known issues with any particular vehicle and of course a bit of luck helps Luv your work JA

Its a shame America wont bring vehicles like these in, the mid 80s had toyota, datsun , mitsubishi ,(dodge d50) pickups, bare bone, rear bumpers were an option. But they were so simple to modify, and maintain. Today we have $40,000 plus vehicles ,that take all the fun of this away.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the video, I find it hard to believe that there was nothing open in Burgersdorp. In South Africa, even in quite small towns, the petrol stations have convenience shops that are open 7 days a week, and from early until late (if not 24hrs). And they do sell very basic food stuffs and pies.

That road is called R26, its bad all the way to Wepener, last time I used it three years ago. Its a peaceful drive, but I think after Wepener its much better, and Eastern cape side roads were very good

500k km = to about 100k liter of diesel. If you use a avg of R21pl over its life that comes out to R2.1mil on diesel that truck has used😂 thats just craze!

Hi Andrew, this video had me nailed to the computer screen. In short, I am a bit jealous. I also found myself asking the question - what is the budget for a complete overall like this? Probably not a question you would like to reply to here, but at 270,000 km on my 2007 Prado, I can't help to wonder what Snyman would discover if I had to take my girl for a proper once over. Would those pizza cutters not have performed much better with some lower pressures? Finally, thanks for your unique content and ability to transform my mind and persona into a virtual overlander.. I am already searching for the next episode that I may have missed. Ooooh - and our roads....

Those particular split rims were amongst the safer ones during my tyre fitting career. There are other split rims that we would not touch ~ and a few fitters would not touch split rims at all.

Fantastic video. We are planning to drive along part of this route later this year, so will hopefully be better prepared. Carry a torch, careful at traffic lights, keep a pack of biscuits in the car and stock up with Sennacot.😊

I believe that the 70 series is a wonderful platform to build an overland 4x4 which is reliable and can be modified extensively to suit ones needs. As good as it is, and as much as I enjoy seeing your builds especially the 2.8, I would really like to see you driving a G-Wagen again. They have a lot of potential, especially the W461 G300 Pro for your needs. I know it is not available as a new car, but I think the G could be the perfect overlander with the right touches. Already has 950kg payload, 3500kg GVM, and 3500kg towing capacity in the wagon form. Steel bumpers, heavy duty roof rack, robust 4wd system and engine, 95l diesel capacity and tough 16 inch wheels as standard. Here in Europe the number of G's that are being modified and driven offroad is constantly increasing. And for good reason. It can even be outfitted with a pop-top like the one from Schmude, additional fuel tanks and much more. For a future project, as a W460 G owner I would really like to see you even consider the possibility of building a proper G. On another note, I am really looking forward to seeing the Van project evolve, as well as the 2.8 Cruiser!

The 60 series in background while you were looking at your seats at 2.38 looked nice. I'm planning to use one in Namibia for light/minimalist 2 up overlanding so I'm all ears and eyes if you have any comments or videos on them.

A thought just occurred to me for the rattles in the back, too late now, but……. A few squirts of expanding foam between the plates would have worked a treat, and the mess it would leave wouldn’t matter, cause you’re ripping it out at the end point

I have a question Andrew. For my taste, you have best videos, short, medium and long format, of covering 4x4 car overlanding. How come you have "only" 300k fallowers? When I started few years back you had 150k. Others have grown a lot more then you. But then again they are doing for the buisness and adapting videos to fallowers, you aren't. You do you and you are far most authentic of them all. And at the same time authority (in my eyes anyway) among few others (all are your close friends) in the field. So I don't get the weathers, why aren't there more fallowers?! ALL BEST in the future adventures.

Andrew! I loved the video. Unfortunately the talking-head piece was a bit...well...nauseating 😂. I usually watch your videos while cooking, or braaing...with some red saffer wine. The talking head piece with the motion in the background unfortunately was a bit a bit too much motion for my situation. Use it, don't use it, ill still watch your videos while cooking and drinking red wine 😂 Love your work!
