Sometimes when a rider comes off a horse it is not good for the horse or the rider. This horse's owner came off of him, I think due to no fault of the horse but it damaged the horse's confidence.

Tim, besides all the excellent information you give, I especially like the fact that you consider each horse individually with their lesson plans. Also, you ride beautifully, so even just watching is educational.

The idea that a horse is afraid that he may do the wrong thing, sounds kind of sad. Really nice boy. I'm sure you'll get him past this. Thanks Tim! ❤️🌵☀️⛈️🌈☮️🐎🐕

Thanks for the video. I think that happened with my horse. He is the most lovely and obliging horse and has never not tried his heart out. I had a minor fall when he spooked at another horse and I wasn't hurt and got back on. Some months later he tripped going over a pole and I got out of balance. I don't remember but friends said he really bucked. I was knocked unconscious so don't remember. Dented confidence and fear reaction to rider falling is the only thing that makes sense. Until now I didn't quite understand or know what to work on.

This reinforces the idea that horsemanship is a partnership. We often forget that horses are people too. When one member of the partnership goes missing, for whatever reason, it dents the confidence of the other member. I reckon this applies to both horse and rider. Excellent video.

What a lovely guy, but he’s still a baby and you see the weakness in his behinds. I can imagine he stumbled during work because he’s not strong enough yet. He just needs time to grow and get stronger, he will be a wonderful horse.
@mrsstorms1462

I think that is just his conformation. He's cow hocked (hocks tend to point towards each other rather than straight back) and somewhat sickle hocked (over angulated hock joints) plus he seems really narrow behind. I spent most of this video watching if he tended to knock his hocks together, which I bet could absolutely cause a misstep. ** If you notice he stops and stands really narrow and a bit cow hocked behind even without the weight of rider.

@@mrsstorms1462I see what you mean, but imo it's slight enough it shouldn't cause an issue. Honestly, many pleasure bred horses are built like this to some degree. Maybe they think it helps them to reach under easier without speeding up idk.

Beautiful boy! Tim I have noticed many trainers refuse to move a mounting block to a horse. I’m curious why you don’t seem to have that same philosophy? Doesn’t seem to bother you a bit to move it. Thanks for the videos!
@timandersonhorsetraining

Most of the time when a young horse will not walk to the mounting block it's not the mounting block that's the problem, it's the horse's worry about what comes after. Being ridden. When a horse is more comfortable about being mounted and ridden then walking up to the mounting block is a non issue. No need to spend time training a problem now that will go away on its own later.

@@timandersonhorsetrainingThis philosophy is what makes you a great trainer, miles above many out there. You have the experience and feel to know what will resolve on its own. You're not a nitpicker about every little thing and that's definitely refreshing. I love your videos as I learn something good every time. This is from a gal that's ridden for 50+ years. ❤️ Thanks too to Brandi who asked this question

I really appreciate your patience with him. It does the trick . I can tell when my reactive Arabian is afraid and when he just doesn't understand what I am asking him to do. I can also tell when he is just being stubborn and doesn't want to do what I ask . If it is stubbornness, he gets fussed at . If it is fear or lack of understanding , he gets patience . There is a difference !

Thanks Tim for pointing out the pleasure breeding of this horse. I'm old enough to remember the awful peanut rollers from decades gone by. Those days some trainers did things behind the scenes to get heads down that weren't nice. I think the zippo pine bar line was the first to be bred for pleasure type conformation where the neck is longer and ties in lower, giving the horses a naturally lower head set.
@timandersonhorsetraining
@timandersonhorsetraining 8 ай бұрын
Zippy pine bar was a poco Bueno, three bars, Leo cross. He originally was supposed to be a cutting horse and he went to pleasure training waiting for him to grow up and he never came back for cutting.

@@timandersonhorsetraining thanks for that I forgot that. What I should’ve said is he was so naturally good at pleasure that started pleasure dynasty. I confess, I miss the days of the really versatile quarter horse, speedy, stout, handy, not too tall that could perform decently at most anything. Although, different ranches have bred for traits suited to their terrain. Went to an AQHA show recently and blew my mind at the 16.2 hand and bigger English types that’s the norm now. Made me wonder if I got the show date wrong

I'm asking myself why one would buy a pleasure bred QH for moving around cows, instead of more "cowy" or "ranchy" bloodlines? I hope that doesn't come off impolite, just genuinely curious, as I'm interested in different bloodlines and what they're used for. I really like how you treat the horses and have a different training plan for every single one. Don't see that very often, unfortunately.

With the younger horses I don't want the rear cinch interfering with teaching leg cues. I add it later for the horses that are goung to a career that should have it.
