I've said it before and even though people don't like it, i genuinely believe Goten has close to, if not the same potential as his brother Gohan.

I enjoy the contrast between kid Gohan vs Goten and Trunks. They were afforded a life of leisure to an extent having many much stronger characters around to do the fighting so they could have “normal” childhoods whereas kid Gohan was robbed of that and thrown into the fire immediately.

They train in the chamber during a weekend from school for 1 day in the chamber which is a years worth and become strong enough to handle SSJ 3 without becoming Gotenks. Or maybe during one summer they train with Whis and become ssj god:

I hope they’re saving the form for a big reveal or moment in the story. Based on the last chapter a full power Gotenks might be around Ultimate Gohan’s level but would get stomped by Beast.

I can see a proper gotenks fusion happening after they train

I think goten and trunks have a galactic patrol arc. Where they are roaming the galaxy where they meet different people. Trunks can get his sword or something. Trunks can then learn from a Kai of time. While goten through the story can learn from either the same or someone else. (I Lowkey think a demon would be cool. We were introduced to Dabura but it stayed at that) and from then on they can learn more power that can make they relevant again in the series

Piccolo will step in and explain why the fusion keeps failing and will correct it for them. They are older now. Is trunks still stronger than goten? If so by how much? That may be the key because their power has to match and the fusion pose has to be the same. Here's an idea: maybe gotenks learns how to correct the bad fusion after the fact.

I hope Goten and Trunks start training for real, they should at least be able to reach SSJ2 and 3.

In summary, based on my observations. Being a hybrid means nothing unless your name is Gohan. This applies to every other hybrid, future and kid trunks and goten. Their strength is just based off the fact as the series continues, characters overall will be stronger when introduced. Being a hybrid hasn’t really meant much, being a saiyan has, being a hybrid one hasn’t unless you’re Gohan. This applies to SSJ too, after Goku got ssj it was literally a SSJ bargain sale, just look how easy the U6 saiyans unlocked forms.

I’d love for them to go through something like a Namek arc. Going somewhere for a simple reason but ending up in the fight of their lives, forcing them to evolve as fighters!

I think this goes down to something I’ve been saying for a bit but I think the issue with the half saiyans is I feel like dragon ball doesn’t know if it wants to move forward and give the next gen something or just keep it the Goku/vegeta power hour….i want Goku and vegeta to be more mentors and hit up other universes while Gohan, goten trunks uub and pan take on the threats

I like the idea of an arc where they learn how to actually be a team with real strategy and learn more about themselves would be fun. In the arc after that they learn how to be independent as well as a team. They could use mai as a reason trunks doesn’t want to be around goten as much causing friction at first but ultimately they become stronger physically and emotionally .

I think Vegeta is going to take over Goten & Trunks training. We all know Vegeta hates fusion and I think he hates their reliance on fusion.

Maybe they can unlock green super saiyan which could be triggered by combining the ssj transformation and human emotions.

All I’m saying, is we currently have 6 sayains on Beruus’s planet. How many sayains did it take to preform the god ritual? 6! If you want to bring these characters into the fold and make them relevant, god ki is the next step for Broly, goten, and trunks. Maybe Gohan too, but I feel god ki would send Gohan over the edge in comparison with the rest.

I think what will probably motivate them most is seeing Vegeta vs Gohan with vegeta going UE and then they realize they are leagues behind everyone now. Maybe a character points that out while ON Beerus' planet.

It would be interesting to make an online poll about who fans would prefer to see get more spotlight: the original human Z warriors (Crillin, Yamcha, Tien and Chiaotzu) or the next generation (Goten, Trunks, Uub and Pan).

I just want them to use swords and ki blades like they did when they founded that sword school in dbo, it was like dragon ball 100 years after goku found uub, that's all i've wanted for like the last 7 years. I think an easy way to do it is to have them be trained by tapion, or have them be like galactic patrolmen, I think that'd be sick.

We want Vegeta to tell them about SsjRage and how Future Trunks achieved it..and Whis might explain Gohan's Beast form. Its the literal opposite of Beast form if you think about it..both Gohan and Future Trunks are Hybrids..and both forms are achieved through pure rage..but Gohan focused his powers upon his human side, whereas Future Trunks focused his powers on his saiyan side.. So, Goten and Trunks can choose which route they want to focus..their saiyan side or human side.

Goten and Trunks should get both SSJ3 form.

I think they're just drip feeding Trunks and Goten's progression to keep the franchise's stock up for a longer period of time. That way the money keeps rolling in.

Sadly its a foregone conclusion that Goten & Present Trunks will not amount to much considering how they are in End of Z. So even if DBS were to do something with them its going to be undone by the time it gets to End of Z.

There is no way they should be this far behind in power. Both of them at the very minimum should be able to at least go level 3 Super Saiyan apart with out fusion or a hybrid form of the level 3 Super Saiyan.

Gotenks did do "something" (kinda) against Copy Vegeta. He got whooped, but did bring back SSJ3

The Fireza Resurrection Arc, the only thing that I liked about that was Tagoma's powerup, but when Gotenks came to the battled field and defused, that pissed me off, because why would they unfuse that quickly? Gotenks is fast enough to fly around the entire world in minutes. He should have gotten there quick as hell and started laying down Frieza's army and still be fused. If they adding in some filler like they fused while going and on the way there Gotenks stopped and started thinking about what he would do or how they would look when they got to the battle field and then they was just practicing poses and lines and attacks for when they gets there and that takes like 28 minutes or so and then when they get there they defuse, that would have made more sense. I would have accepted that. Gotenks just showing up and defusing.... That pissed me off.

The problem with dragon ball is that for the most part, its always been 1 central antagonist to be battled against all the main characters. For me, Dragon ball was at its greatest when theres multiple villains for the heroes to battle. Other shonen like One Piece has this down to a science now where a lot of the secondary characters all get their chance to shine and conquer an enemy. Thats why despite some peoples views, I really lowed the tournament of power arc because even characters like Roshi had hero moments. I think for the future of DB SUPER, it needs to go down like that as well. When Frieza comes back, it has to do be set up where he's gone to other universes,etc and recruited new Frieza force thats even more terrifying and powerful than ever before. That way we can give some battles to Piccolo, Goten, Trunks, Gohan, Broly, Goku and Vegeta as well. They just have to give us more supporting villains that arent straight jobbers.

I'm excited. I feel like we're on that precipice the story going in directions we've thought about for so many years. The idea of Goten and Trunks getting involved and making things seriously. Gohan taking things seriously. Goku and Vegeta progressing. Freaking Broly officially being introduced in the series as a good person and a friend in comrade of Goku and Vegeta with his own potential and storylines. We still have the Universe 6 Saiyans. We still have all these legends and people we haven't met yet. There's so much they can do. And Uub as well is still gonna show up! And Pan.

Personally I think they need to make Gotenks the defacto fusion fighter for the Z Fighters. Find a way to make that happen and get him comparable to the likes of at the very least current Ultimate Gohan.

I always want a story when Goten & Trunks guarding Android 17 island. Like the island itself is full of unique creatures. I missed the time when there're Dinosaurs around in the wild 😂 A movie about it will be so cool, maybe the villain is an alien that hunt rare animal from planet to planet. So not too weak but not too OP for Goten & Trunks to fight

Anyway I think that Trunks and Goten as Gotenks should train intensely to push his power beyond ssj3 and transform into an ssj4. Not GT ssj4. That’s really not a super saiyan transformation. But have Gotenks be the first character to achieve the upgraded form of ssj3. Maybe that could be a form that Trunks and Goten could pursue individually as well later down the road. Even b4 all that Vegeta could teach the boys how to use their energy as efficiently as he was taught to use his during the Morrow arc. Seems like that could be a good way to power them and Gotenks up some.

I thought it was crazy how Goten & Trunks came along to Beerus' planet. Imagining for a moment that they got God Ki or were able to become the next Ssj God would be insane. I know it's not going to happen but the amount of solid training & powering up they can get from this is crazy to think about.

Toriyama going back to the Goku well instead of committing to the next generation was one of his worst more boring decisions he could've made.

I actually think the best route in rehabilitating them is just focusing on them as characters. Dragon Ball is at its best when it’s telling fulfilling stories about the characters like in the Red Ribbon Army arc or Piccolo in the Saiyan arc so why not harken back to that? Goten and Trunks at the end of Z are clearly shown to have grown out of the need to constantly get stronger and I think that’s perfect for them, it works for Goku and to an extent Vegeta but I don’t think everyone needs to be that way. Let us see what led Goten into being a playboy and let’s see how Trunks being a nepo baby effects his relationship with Vegeta. Not necessarily saying we have to do the slice of life stuff but Dragon Ball started off as an adventure manga not a battle manga so trying something new from time to time should not be a bad thing.

Here's hoping. With everyone on Beerus's planet, Goku and Vegeta clues in the others, requests Gohan's help due to his Beast Power, Vegeta ropes Goten and Trunks to take things more serious and train them as well. I mean it's right there in an organic way to bring everyone in to the fold, Goku could just IT to Piccolo curious about his power as well and bring him into the loop. Then imagine the line up Goku and Vegeta, Broly, Piccolo, Gohan , Goten and Trunks (Gotenks Fused Properly) standing agianst Black Frieza and whatever forces or allies he's forged since their last meeting.

This certainly isn’t “my idea” so I don’t claim it as such.. but I cannot, put in to words, how much an arc that takes place after End of Z called “The Best Sensei” or something would be. You have Goku take Uub, Gohan take Trunks, and Vegeta take Goten and do a classic hyperbolic time chamber arc where they all train up their pupils and then fight to see who was the best student, and the best teacher. An arc like this would be rich with character development, new dynamics, and transformations that everyone would love.

The should join the galactic patrol! They would find strong opponents to test them selves against and get better at holding their own. That way they can have their own story with in the story that has high stakes as well.

Its about time they got some more attention after years of being pushed to the side, I mean they're the kids of Goku and Vegeta so you expect a litt more interactions from them. Even have their fusion Gotenks be take more seriously, like they don't have to completely change his personality, just have him contribute more in battles without reducing him to a failed fusion joke. Thats why even though the High School Arc in the Super Manga is divisive, I can give them credit for bringing them back into the spotlight

I think it's meaningful that they are finally teenagers...got some panel time... and are being shown in combat in SS form.

I think they failing on the Fusion this many times it means that sometime in a near future they will be needed and the right Fusion will come in to save the day

This may sound fanfic-y but I think it would be cool for Goten & Trunks to get back to training and become relevant and unique. I propose they train enough to reach ss3 INDIVIDUALLY and to dedicate some time to finally perfect fusion again; no more mocking the fusion ability. Maybe if they’re both individually stronger, Gotenks will reach a higher more unique form like ss4 (not the GT one) that’s unique to JUST Gotenks. Seems like everyone is getting their own unique form. I could see a world with Gotenks partnering with Vegito for a cool move or battle, even its just a part of a future video game

I had a whole Dragon Ball: “Super Side Story” idea that involved Goten and Trunks that took place during the 3 year gap between Granola and Super Hero. They’d join the galactic patrolmen. It would start with them in their “Kid form”, then they’d shoot up to their “Teenage form”. It would take place during the Summer(no school). So the beginning of the premise was: Jaco would arrive on earth to speak to Bulma about some nonsense and to get milk and cheese, he’d leave his brand new model space ship unattended, and Trunks would pressure Goten to join him in checking out the new ship. Jaco would come back, carelessly throw his goodies in the ship on top of Trunks and Goten, never noticing them, get back in his ship and blast off. He’d arrive back at HQ, unload and find the kids. He’d freak out because he’s scared of Bulma, make a joke on how this was exactly how they got to planet Potaufeu and the whole fake Vegeta nonsense a few years back. He’d then call Bulma about the situation who freaks out on him for being careless. Trunks and Goten sneak off to explore. Sometime passes then Goku and Vegeta Show up to take them home. Trunks protests saying they never get to do anything and how they’re fighters too. Vegeta isn’t trying to hear it as Goten speaks his mind as well. Goku, being more laid back, understands where Goten is coming from and asks the Galatic King if they’re safe here. The King says yes but they can’t stay, Goku asks if they become space cops, like him and Vegeta did against Moro. The King ponders for a sec then says, sure. Goku tells Vegeta that this might be good for them and learn some responsibility as fighters. Vegeta grumbles knowing he’ll hear it from Bulma later but agrees. But just for the summer. They then leave and Trunks and Goten celebrate their new found freedom. They are subsequently given the rule book and uniforms and are now Galactic trainees, working under Jaco since he brought them in. And from there they have many adventures taking down criminals and strong foes. And as they do, their hair grows and they get taller and Goten becomes more independent and even refuses to fuse. Which causes a riff between the two but is soon mended. They fuse one time to beat the main big bad of the side story at the end of summer and then return home, ready to begin their next year in High School. Trunks then says to Goten, “You know, acting as Patrolmen, really gave me an idea of how we could be doing more for our city. Remember when Gohan did it?” He smiles at Goten, who Smiles back. Which then leads them to become, Saiyaman X1 and X2, which leads into the high school arc we got of them. That’s my idea. I thought it be cool and fun.

I think the main problem with Goten and Trunks, is thier environment. The world Goten and Trunks live in is significantly safer than the one Gohan or Future Trunks had to deal with. Gohan and Future Trunks pretty much had to keep up with the world around them from a young age. Gohan had the sayians, Frieza and the androids that forced him to be strong. Future Trunks had the Androids and people to protect to keep him strong. Goten and Trunks, don't really have that. They had Buu, but that was when everyone thought Goku, Vegeta and Gohan were dead. But after they come back, there wasn't really a reason for Goten and Trunks to be relevant anymore. With how crazy all the power jumps are too from arc to arc. Being relevant for them is like a forever moving goalpost without much of a reason to keep up because there is always Goku, Vegeta, and now Gohan and Piccolo to deal with it.

They seriously deserve to have a comeback arc. Rather just a training arc that lasts for several chapters. Once UI vs Beast ends, Goten and Trunks need to decide how they’re gonna get stronger and go their separate ways for a while. Become friendly rivals again. Goku, Gohan and Goten should train together, while Vegeta and Trunks train together and Broly spectates and occasionally tags in. Idk about Black Frieza or another tournament. I want to see pages full of training.

The time is ripe for Gohan to step into a teacher role for them. And I think the latest chapter kind of foreshadows that a bit in their spat, especially in the Trunks v. Gohan pages. There’s a lot for all of those characters in that dynamic I think.

The fact that they had a mini arc for goten and trunks, they are on Beruss planet and fought gohan there. Shows me that they are going to give them more shine and spotlight now. I think DBS has realized we want more than just the goku and vegeta show. Arcs will be way more interesting with Multiple strong characters now.
