It’s not good work by today’s standards. Slopping on seam sealer and spreading it with a paint brush is laziness. Not to mention filler over top of shiny ground metal… it won’t last. I cringed watching it, sadly. Seems like a good guy but he’s stuck in the past with his methods unfortunately.
@RaptureOnCloudNo.9
@RaptureOnCloudNo.9 13 күн бұрын
@@UncleDale_ I'm glad someone pointed it out. I honestly have next to no knowledge with regards to body or sheet metal work, and Steve seems to be someone dedicated to his craft, but I felt like something's wrong with his methods. One of the reasons the Type-Rs are such mean handling machines, is the seam welds (as opposed to the more common spot welds) all around the body frame. Using seam sealant instead of seam welding back the quarter panel? I don't know man, it feels like that has become the weak spot of the chassis, doesn't seem sufficient to me. I'm all for saving the Type-R, but I'm not sure cutting the quarter panel out is the way.
@ppppw2
@ppppw2 13 күн бұрын
"but I'm not sure cutting the quarter panel out is the way." How else are you supposed to fix it? Even if you were to pull it and everything, its lost its structural rigidity. You need a new panel. Also if you're worried about no welds on the quarterpanel, know that the Honda Civic Type R FD2R was exclusive bonded together with glue to save weight and that car is rigid as fuck, so much that the 2008 model year had to have softer suspension because people complained the car was too stiff. @@RaptureOnCloudNo.9

Good work , but I don’t think so about replacing spot weld with glue, it’s not what Honda recommends to do as far of the replacement procedure for 1/4 , the rigidity not gonna be the same especially if it’s gonna go back on the truck , with all that body roll , that glue can split because there’s no weld in the door jam area where the rocker is and 1/4 glass is , he only weld it where where he put body filler, I’ll would recommend to go to specialty shop

Good as new! We used to "skin" panels back in the day. Hammer the areas around the filler neck and door sills. Then weld a good panel right over the damage. Sometimes it would help alignment because the new panel holes could be used as mounting points to hold it in place while welding.

Really good episode, the camera work and music choices were fantastic. I would normally be bored watching someone cut, grind, sand but the movement from the camera and the audio sync made it very enjoyable.

I couldn't agree more. There is no substitute for precise ... and Steve is obviously a craftsman who accepts nothing less than perfect!

Cool thing happened today as I was watching this video on my laptop in a Cafe. A few guys came up to me and asked me what channel this was cos they thought the video looked pretty cool. I think that's such a massive compliment to y'alls production quality that people can literally see it a mile away and like it enough to ask what video it is. You're doing awesome

My man STEVE is a fucking LEGEND. Man is straightening and ripping apart Ben's FL5 with his bare hands and then ripping his box mod vape 😆😆. We need more Steves in the world.

Dude is a magician. What an amazing job. He should definitely start his own KZfaq channel. I'd watch it. He has a good personality too.
