Hi Nice project. I realy like that roll cage. Never seen on like that before. They have seam welded the area around the roll cage at rear to give reinforcment to the whole structure. So it does not look like somthing made at home at first seight. Nice work I have seen many 909 chassis and the stripped 909 chassis (9095455 and 9095456) without roll cage from Borehame/Ford Motorsport did not have the support bracket that goes from the floor and on side on the rear shock tower. Your car has thoose brackets. In engine bay it looks like on the welding that it has reiforcemnet plates similar to Boreham style on the outside of inner fender(wheel side). It is a bit hard to see on the welds where they are attached. But they have definetly done some reinforcment on the front inner fender as the circular hole are not open. In the front it also look like it has the extra hole/sleeve on the side of frame rail for caster support brackets. I will look at some old pictures 🙂

Thank you, I'm just learning this seems to be a very unique car. I have looked through a lot of photos and not seen many similar to it. there is a bar in the roof which prevents a roof scoop being added. I'm going to spend more time sanding the paint to see if I can discover anything else before the shell gets blasted and all history is lost. Somebody must have an idea about the history of this car !

interesting. I owned quite a few Escort Cosworth rally cars between 2004 and 2009. The first (and last) of them was an ex-Ford Motorsport, Gordon Spooner Engineering built car, registered as N871 GNO, which was used as a recce car for Portugal and Argentina by McRae and Sainz. Sadly that car burned to the ground in 2009 at Blyton Park on a test day. You probably know of Steve Scott (A1 Rallysport) in Bedfordshire, he did a lot of work on Cosworths for me. The other person it would be worth speaking to is Tony Conway, from Yorkshire, who had his hands on a huge number of Cosworth rally cars as a dealer through the 90s right up to fairly recent times. I don't think he is messing with Cosworths these days, but his knowledge is extensive.

Thanks for this, I'll have to get in contact with them and check whether they have any knowledge of this car, this one is also N reg. It would be good to find some level of history because the cage seems fairly unique

Will you be building it as 2wd setup ? Also will it be wide track setup

I spent maybe 10 years thinking I'd make it 2wd, some of that contemplating a coyote engine but I have a YB to go in it and a full 4x4 drivetrain from a saph
