Nice to see someone actually rebuilding quality equipment. This throw away culture we live in never appreciates what it takes to keep things running.

Getting older not old, well ain't that the key to it all. Being grateful for what you have and not resentful for what you don't, and no envy or jealousy of others and you can go a long way. Wade I just loved when you said that it was the first time that you went all the way through on a saw rebuild. Ain't it the truth a lot of the time, you got to have the guts to go out into the deep water. One of my favorites so far I have seen. These KZfaq algorithm make no sense to me. 👍

I had always jobbed for other loggers and run their saws. Then the first saw I ever bought was a 395. I bought it in 1992 or 93. I borrowed some money from my grandfather to buy it. It served me well for several years.

Like I told David H on his video this morning Wade, I have had a lot of stuff happen to me over the last few years, new heart valve new aorta complete ankle replacement, lost 345 pounds 4 failed ankle surgeries plus about 5 other surgeries, and your videos and his and a few others are what get me through my days and some very long nights. Nice work Tater! Gotta love the spare parts bin save! That piston with no bearing must have made quite a racket!! If you do more piston and jugs, they make plastic ring compressors that slide around the rod, they help a ton.

I thought I was the only that has a hard time working on chainsaws by forgetting to put something back in. You something ain't right when you have extra parts or their is parts still in thew box that should have went in the saw or whatever you are working on. That is why I love your vidjas your honesty and you give your best at whatever your doing even if you don't know what your your doing. Like most hillbillies we figure it out after a while, some cuss words, and maybe a confab with somebody that does know what they are doing or looking it up on the interweb or maybe a book. You should sell this video to husqvarna as a commercial for just how tough their saws are. After the shade tree, sledge hammer rebuild job, and it still runs that good, is nothing short of example of great design.

Very cool video. I have a 2000 model 372XP that I am thinking about tinkering with. Don't get too discouraged with anything, you have the ability to figure out how things work and the courage to tackle fixing most anything. There are a lot of us who either don't have the ability or courage to even try. Next time you are in town, pick up a can or two of Husqvarna fuel and run through Puddin and give us your feedback. I think it runs better and cleaner in my saws. Keep it up!

The loose bearing might cause an air leak or blow a crankcase seal- keep an eye on it or do a pressure/vacuum test

Brother when an allen bolt strips grab a torx bit and tap it into the bolt and use light pressure and it should break loose.

Its easier to tune the high screw while its wide open. Just open up the throttle and let her run wide open while you adjust the H. up and down until the RPM's peak; takes away the guess work.

I’m pretty sure if a person could walk-into a saw store and buy a Billups built saw they wouldn’t be able to keep em in stock to satisfy the demand. His saw is fast.

A tip for loose bearings in housings. Is to put a few center punch indent around the wall (at say 3,6,9&12 o'clock or more)of the housing plus lock tight before installing bearing

Loved the video Wade me and chainsaws had a love/hate relationship me I hated them.

For easy install of your bearings into the crank case throw them in the freezer for couple hours the bearing race will shrink by a couple thousandths and will let them slide in place easier

I believe that farmtech is gonna come out with aftermarket parts for the 395xp in a few months

I've seen this happen in a saw that was ran with straight gas, instead of mixed gas.. or it can happen if the fuel filter gets too clogged.. That's what usually kills the bottom end in a 2 stroke. I've seen a cylinder die before by a piece chipping off of the top of the exhaust port and gauged the cylinder wall, just like in your pics.. At least the parts are fairly cheap. At least I know on the STillh's, a jug is only like $20
