@TCGBulkKings how do you accrue debt buying bulk for a penny a card? I imagine your credit statement is a bunch of under 10c purchases bulding to like $20 bucks for the month, and that's what debt looks like to a bulk seller.😂

Can you talk about how you keep your with the prices of each card in your inventory on TCG Player? Prices move up and down, how do you manage to keep up with the market price?
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 6 ай бұрын
As a Pro Seller on TCGplayer, I use the available MassPrice tool they have. Before that, I would update all prices for a set whenever I added cards to the set, since I would have them all in front of my eyes on the Pricing tab. I would just do a quick check up and down the list while I had that set open

Hey there! Just found your channel and I am really intrigued by your business model. I think it would be a good fit for my lifestyle but I’d like to know more about the income side of things. I believe I saw in a previous video that you run the business 20-30 hours a week. When you were running your system with a healthy inventory, what do you think your average monthly net profit number would be If you had to ball bark such a number? I understand that’s probably a difficult number to come up with considering the vast amount of variables. I just want to have some sort of number in mind though before I dive any deeper. Thanks!
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 8 ай бұрын
Hello! I'm glad to have caught your interest. Honestly, I've been doing wildly divergent amounts of hours per week over the last couple years, 25-60 hours per week, as I've been able to fit in between family and other obligations and my own personal difficulties. It is definitely not easy to give an average profit, but at my peak performance (early spring 2023), I was making net ~$3-4k per month. Just lots of other things prevented me from maintaining that level of output. I started to develop a plan to transition to hiring employees when all the issues that led to me moving here happened. So, here we go again =]
@SumnerSaLT
@SumnerSaLT 8 ай бұрын
@@TCGBulkKings Thanks for being transparent. I like the 3-4k a month number but not so much the 60 hours per week number lol. Do you think 3-4k a month could be achieved with 25-30 hours a week? Once again, disregarding variability lol. For example, if the system is averaging 3-4k a month but also averaging 40-60 hours a week, could you integrate something like an automatic card sorter to cut hours without cutting too much profit?
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 8 ай бұрын
@@SumnerSaLT I'm building with very little cash investment up front, so the sorters don't make a while lot of sense for me. Also, I'm doing a lot, not just the bulk itself, but also content creation, web development, and a dozen other things. The organization of it all is kind of a pressure release for me, a soothing activity, so it's almost not even like work unless I'm really crunching to get something done. I think if you've got plenty of space and can be really efficient and consistent, and can consistently get new inventory, one person alone can get there in the 30-40 hrs/wk eventually, but it will take time to build up to that. Every piece of effort compounds itself on the others

I like opening packs for draft or something like that, but when I'm looking for value, it always just feels bad to me. I'm much happier buying the cheap cards at a rate that lets me make money on them, and occasionally get these higher end cards like in my next most recent video

Found you channel not long before your move. Was inspired to try a little TCG business myself. Haven't been able to watch everything, so you may have mentioned it, but where do you get sheling units with more than 5 spaced out shelves? That's all I can find, but i'd like a unit with closely space to fit monster boxes on so i don't have to stack them. Where you find those shelving units?
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 8 ай бұрын
I actually got 2 units of the boltless shelves and used the shelves from both on a single set of vertical pieces. The cards don't weigh nearly enough for it to be a problem for the shelves. I got these at Ollie's, but there aren't any around here in Tucson. Any such type shelf units will do, you just double up the shelves. I'm glad I've been able to inspire you, that really means a lot to me =]

Happy Thanksgiving! quick question on shipping. Do you ship machinable or non machinable? I currently ship non and I'm worried about shipping as machinable due to damage. Any thoughts?
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 8 ай бұрын
I use regular forever stamps. Non-machinable actually gets machined anyway, only way to guarantee is not going through rollers is to send it as a parcel. As long as you package well, there is almost zero risk of a pwe being damaged in transit. I get very very few complaints, far less than 1% of my orders

@TachibanaTengoku 8 ай бұрын
Just to make sure I have this right, are you considering your listed inventories value at bulk rates? I think once you filter it out and have an actual price on them, you should be valuing it at market price or similar, at least for the books.
@TCGBulkKings
@TCGBulkKings 8 ай бұрын
No, you mark down what you paid for it. Inventory is reported at cost, not what you may eventually sell it for. This is because I, the business owner, didn't invest the selling value amount of dollars to obtain the asset. The only assets for which market value is assigned on the balance sheet rather than the cost to acquire is for real estate, and this is mostly for traditional reasons.
@TachibanaTengoku
@TachibanaTengoku 8 ай бұрын
@@TCGBulkKings Weird, I know that when you purchase inventory you'd be valuing it at purchase price, but it feels like for the purposes of knowing the "networth" of the asset itself, it would make sense for you to use the actual value of the cards, right? After all, if I just gave you your inventory for free, does that mean it doesn't have any value in the asset column? I should ask an accountant lmao
@cardconnection4322
@cardconnection4322 8 ай бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. Inventory should be listed at acquisition cost not market value. Though for insurance purposes would you list market value or replacement cost or something else?
