Regarding the broken piston parts it looks like the piston rocked against the cylinder walls because of the valve contact and broke the skirt

I would check the crank could be bent causing pistons to slap the cylinder and chip them

I reckon the pistons have been cracked on the lower part due to the extra shock from them hitting the valves when it might have been running 🤔so good thing it went out of time I guess engine damaged could have been detrimental

Hi Namz, So if you were to try to get this same engine to run with minimum expediture. Would you have just put a new timing chain on. New oil & gasket and it should have worked fine?

Does that engine have balance shafts ?? If the timing is out pistons would have hit the balance shafts and chipped them Pistons are broken not burnt so not tune of engine I would defo be checking crank bearings as well

Mate you must be blind if you didn’t see them carbon brakes when it was on Copart also straight away I could see it was a stage 3 car with the size of that intake if you didn’t have the brains to phone peron motorsport which Is across the windscreen I phoned them before auction ended. Car was stage 3 engine blew up customer took it back to them it has since passed a couple hands and end up on Copart. Also it’s not the cheapest rs3 in the country
