Thank you for this very interesting comparison. While the 16-80 seems sharper in the corners compared to the 18-135, they are surprisingly close in all other areas.

Thanks a lot for this comparison! I wathced it on my smartphone and I definitely watch it on a bigger screen. Surprisingly, center sharpness seemed to better on more apertures at 18-135 lens. Why did it surprise me? 16-80 is newer, and it is natural to expect the designers to put in more advanced tech and take care of the key points such as sharpness, esp. center sharpness. The newer lens is less versatile in terms of zoom range, but for street, travel and landscape photography that I do most of all, I'd prefer to have exta 2 mm on the wide end rather than extra 55mm on the telephoto end. Again, I have to watch this video on a bigger screen, but the overall impression is a bit better when it comes to frames taken by 16-80.

Thank you very much, very useful. For photography, honestly, I see little reason to upgrade to the 16-80mm. Smaller range, only a little bit sharper. But sharpness is not a problem for me, our cameras resolve already so much....

The fact 18-135 is a more useful lens

今１６－８０と１８－１３５を考えていますが、どうもRyousukeさんの考察では１６－８０ｍｍが良いかなんと思うようになりました。カメラはＸＳ１０を考えています。旅には必ずカメラと望遠ズームレンズを持て行きますので、１８－１３５も考えましたが、１６－８０でも撮影に際し余り大きな影響はないようで使い易いレンズと思いました。Ｒｙｏｕｓｕｋｅさんの考察が決め手になりそうです。ありがとうございます。

To me is still better the 18-135.. 16-80 I tested not impressive at all (for 800/900€) and here we have similar apertures on 18-135. (almost not night and day, and 16-80 also need to be stopped down to get uniform image sharpness overall). But: 18-135 has AF linear motor in addition, longer focal range and still WR, it costs less...so easy win for me. :)

I am assuming that you compared the two at the wide angle end - 18mm? Any input of comparison at the other end - 80mm?

Mm, very useful, thanks. The 18-135 usually is less appreciated than most other Fuji lenses, but the 16-80 seems to be roughly in the same league. A bit more compact, better IBIS and constant aperture seem to be the main distinguishing features. Greetings from Holland.
