Those things happen. NE lost 31-0 to Buffalo, went on to win the SB. They lost to KC (We´re on to Cincinnati), won the SB. The Bucs lost at home to the Saints, 38-3 (just kicked the FG to not get blanked), went on to win the SB. It´s not how you fall, but how you get up. Not saying NYG will win the SB, but they can respond. And that´s all that matters.

When a team wins a lot of close games and comes-backs-from-behind one season, those victories and type of wins may not be counted on in following seasons. This game reminded me of a varsity football team playing the JV roster. Certainly, in todays NFL, the team showing up for game 1 of the season, is not necessarily the team that will exist at the end of the season, but a 40-0 drubbing reveals deep-seated flaws with the NY Giants team and roster. 1.) The offensive line play of the Giants was Offensive. 2.) Daniel Jones has not proven to me that he is capable of consistently putting points on the board, which is perhaps the most important requirement of a QB. He is moderately athletic, not fast, but not slow either, and fairly mobile. But at some point a quarterback must be able to put points on the board and elevate his team, and I simply do not see Daniel Jones making anyone else on his team better or scoring enough points. He has some nice runs, but does he make any pedestrian receiver look like a HOF receiver, as Marino, Peyton, Montana, Mahomes, Brady did/does?. The answer to that is a negative. He has to be able to do more with his arm than his feet, and that has not been the case thus far. His value has been his mobility, rather than his ability to deliver precise passes and score points. That must change. The Giants defensive line continues to exhibit an inability to pressure quarterbacks, and the Giants coverage was poor. Tackling also is not good. When the Giants defense was at its best, there wasn't one guy making a tackle, but the entire team attacking the man with the bal, they called that gang-tackling. You do not see that with the Giants over the past 3-5 years. This was a set the tone for the rest of the season performance and it was not a good one for the Giants. They say it is not if a man gets knocked down, but how he rises from the knock-down that defines him, so let us see what this team and coach are made of.

This was a game that reminds us that everything starts at the line of scrimmage. If that goes bad then nothing good is going to happen behind those lines.
