Everyday I'm amazed by how people manage to find new ways of doing 'bad' things. If only we would put this much effort into doing 'good' things. Maybe all of the world's problems would be solved.

Amazon needs to stop saying "don't worry about it" IMMEDIATELY, and if they do not, they are complicit and culpable in the fraud, imo; period. 😡

Personally, I usually pay more attention to the negative reviews. Then I look on youtube for additional reviews. The youtube reviews are so so on credibility but you can at least see the product in use.

Amazon needs to tighten up its policing and regulations on third-party sellers, even if this abuse is mostly harmless and more of a nuisance.

I got a security camera. Tried to send it back,but Amazon didn’t know where it came from. I didn’t want an unknown item in my home,so I donated it. Had a weird feeling to it. Guess it happens a lot.

But... every tracking number is unique! HOW is this even remotely an issue? How has Amazon not initiated a system where you can find the order via the tracking number on your package and report it???

Um... seems like a simple solution. Don’t let “buyers” write reviews - let “receivers” write reviews. After all - the person receiving and using the product is really the person that should be able to write the verified review.

This actually happened to me 2 times. I had an order delivered and I called Amazon stayed on the phone for hours wondering why it had my name and address. It happens to a lot more people and Amazon needs to handle this.

This is the best thing I’ve clicked for some time. I have always relied on reviews. I’ve got to be a lot more careful. Sigh.

This is why I start at the END of reviews and work my way that way no matter WHAT company it is...

*RULE OF THUMB: Read reviews of the item you want to buy on other websites before ordering from Amazon or any other online store. If you can't find enough good reviews, don't buy the item.*

I am glad I saw this as we have been receiving random packages from Amazon for my father who passed in 2017 since mid 2020. We have been so confused.

As usual: Buyer beware.

The other thing that happens is when the reviews look negative, the seller deletes and renames the item. Then either that seller or another seller put the item out again, with none of the negative reviews that were there. I put a negative but balanced review on a product, then was surprised to see the item is still for sale on Amazon, without the review.

I’m in New Jersey and this happened to me two summers ago. I gave everything to charity. I never post reviews.

The scarier thing to me is that these women have their name and address somewhere on the internet.

An easy fix for this is for Amazon to note which reviews are for gift purchases. Personally, I wouldn't put much stock in a review from someone who isn't primarily using the product.

I find it weird to see 75 reviews with no pictures from the buyers

This happened to my husband! He was sent breast pads for women who are nursing their baby. It was so strange and Amazon didn’t really give a damn. Lol

This happened to me. I was receiving unsolicited Amazon packages. I contacted Amazon and my information didn't seem compromised. It's the strangest thing.

I never trust reviews. The only surprise is that people actually get things.

I'm saddened by the "count me in" sentiments when already informed it is enabling a scam. Think about that a moment. You are expressing willingness to be involved in and acceptance for a scam. That's not right. Be smart and stay safe. ♡

This is why I rarely pay attention to positive reviews...I always check negative reviews first because you know those are the real legit people.

To be perfectly honest, I would _never_ open a package I did not order. These people are either very brave, or very naive.

This has happened to me. After about the 5th unsolicited package, I called Amazon and they had absolutely no clue what was going on. I donated all the items. It's very unsettling in a strange way. I guess our information is compromised in so many ways but not knowing how this scam worked really made me nervous. Like, what's the end goal? Now I know. 🤷🏾

They sent me a nursing bra and now my parents think i got someone girl pregnant.

This why I always look at 3 star reviews first there the most accurate things that are good and bad are usually put in the 3 star reviews so far doing this as i buy online has work well for me so far

On the bright side, I guess in America if you receive a package from Amazon that you didn't order, and you don't want it, you can just put it back on your doorstep and some enterprising Porch Pirate will scurry off with it.

This happened to my husband. We were getting MULTIPLE amazon packages delivered EVERYDAY to him, for about 3 months in 2019. At first it made me think he was having an affair, because they were sending the most outlandish shit that I knew he would never use. The packages were just piling up. So he clearly wasn't buying all of this shit for another woman. Then I thought maybe he had opened a business and didn't wanna tell me. The packages were so excessive.

They need to BAN 3rd party sellers that aren't from a _MAJOR_ company. I've gotten so much garbage that was "Amazon Choice" made by small "family companies" that weren't even close to what the reviews claim.

So that's why I own 5 pink heart cookie cutters now.

I want to be scammed like this

This happened to me today. I received a storage cabinet piece of furniture, and ironically I was also expecting another piece of storage cabinet furniture today too. So the funny part is that the first large package that I thought was mine, turned out to technically not be mine. So I had to go back downstairs in my building to check if the other one was mine and surely enough it was the one I ordered. And the worst part is the package that wasn't mine, I had already opened up fully and didn't know what to do with it. I even triple-checked the box to make sure I didn't accidentally take someone else's package but it really did have my name and apartment number on it. So I decided to keep it and assembled it too. It's a very awkward situation to be in. And it's also the first time it's ever happened to me.

My wife recently received a package she didn't order. Turned out someone used her credit card number to order stuff, but stupidly forgot to put a street number for their shipping address to a town about an hour from us so it was delivered to the payment address which is our house. Their "brilliance" let us find the credit card fraud much sooner than we would have.

I had this happen to me .. I finally got to the right person at amazon and with my help and returning products was able to track down who was doing it .. haven't gotten an unwanted package of useless crap since.

This happened to me and I had to call Amazon and they said give it away, after a while they stop coming.

Amazon needs to close those accounts of the vendors as they’re information is being misused.

Good Video. The bigger issue is when Amazon will not accept reviews for verified purchases that point out a manufacturing defect that could affect safety. This happened to my wife when reviewing a chair.

This happened to me a few times in 2020 - I got Amazon packages for things I never ordered. I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on, but I think it was probably this brushing scam.

It is clear that Amazon is behind this scam or at least tolerating it. I prefer buy at stores and help my local community!

I use to work for AMAZON (CC)and I can say with out a doubt that in the WEST Amazon do not care about fraud or scams or any of this stuff as long as they get a sale and their commission. They do not care. I use to see this all the time and its much worse around seasonal holidays and has exploded during the pandemic. We would report it but Amazon would always say it was not an issue and not to be concerned and actively dissuaded us to pursue these issues. There is a reason amazon has been so successful and part of that is they have almost no standards and will not punish sellers who bring in regular business. Sadly again this is mostly a Chinese seller problem simply due to the culture where misleading a customer is not as big a deal as it is or was in the West. Do not trust Amazon and always take to social media first to report suspicious activities to see if you are alone. More often than not you will be one of countless thousands. The lady at the end is wrong. You do not want these goods as you can be considered as part of the scam and have your account shut down as a result if you keep them. Also if you are sent items which might be embarrassing this could also cause arguments and even violent assaults as we had a number of complaints where a partner became suspicious of these gifts. There is nothing good about this scam and even those who temp benefit end up being duped on Amazon by fake reviews which they later complain about despite being part of the problem through their complicit actions. The problem is few people will see this and this issue is escalating daily and within the year become systemic causing entire legitimate sellers businesses to collapse hurting the Uk and UK economy once again while rival markets succeed. Amazon could do something, do a lot more and they have all the proposal and plans in place but they chose not to act because there isn't sufficient deterrents while consumers fail to complain and they are making record profits. We are making our own bed and we will have to lie in it.

Sounds also like money laundering. What a great way to say a high priced item was sold, when it was a cheap toy. Keeping the money difference.

They send junk, so the mailman thinks you got your stuff. When you order something expensive, they send a dog toy. You contest the charge, and they say they sent your stuff. Your bank investigates... But the sender has great reviews.

I got scammed too. I ordered a nice sweater and perfume for my wife at Christmas but received 4 tires and a carburetor. 😁

ahh this happened to me a few yrs ago. got an amazon delivery that i didnt buy. it was a small battery operated candle. amazon couldnt tell me who or why it was sent to me.

That explains the random toothbrush package we got last year. Amazon said they did not know why we had it. We just threw it away.

Man, I hope nobody starts sending me unsolicited packages that aren't useful to me from Amazon. I definitely wouldn't resell them online as a side hustle.

I personally have received several mysterious cheap bags worth no more than $2. Back then I thought it was amazon’s way of saying thank you for being a loyal member 🤣

This is why I look for items with reviews in the thousands. 5 star reviews on items with only a 100 or so reviews are meaningless to me.

Amazon needs to coordinate with the review sites to see if the same tracking number appears twice. And Amazon should create a page for customers to list packages and their numbers and the contents inside that came to the door unsolicited.

Three months after we moved, the new homeowner called to say an Amazon package for us had been delivered there. It was addressed to my husband, who NEVER orders from Amazon. It was charged to a credit card he NEVER uses. It was a $400 red Vitamix blender. My husband doesn’t even know what a blender is! I contacted the credit card company. They reversed the charge and canceled the card. I called Amazon and explained to the rep. He could find no record of any order on either of our accounts and no history of a charge to that credit card. I tried to return it, but without an order number I couldn’t generate a shipping label. The next person I talked to at Amazon couldn’t understand the situation enough to help me. I ended up giving it to the guy who bought our house. I didn’t need or want it and red is not my color. I’m still trying to make sense of it.

This have been happening to me for the past year! I've been receiving cheap trinkets that I didn't order or want. It wouldn't be to bad if the items weren't so cheap.

We just started receiving expensive packages from Amazon fulfillment warehouses. Called to tell Amazon so that we could send them back and the CS rep was like "we can't disclose our sellers personal information". Funny thing is they are being shipped to our address in our nicknames. She also asked for our Amazon account number or or email. We don't have one. Checked our credit cards just in case. Nothing. Oh well. Nice paydays for us every 2 weeks.
