Hi, I had this problem also, and it tries to sneak back in occasionally. I pray in tongues. I also allow my mind to focus on seeing each Word in certain scriptures. You can not think on two things at the same time. Continue to pray in tongues and while praying, focus on seeing the Word in your mind. I do hope this helps. Heyyyy... Just saw you question. The Holy Spirit is still there he has not left you, don't forget the Bible says the gifts of God are without calling or repentance. So a gift has been given to you which is the Holy Spirit and he says he will never leave nor forsake you. So he is still there, all you need to do is to acknowledge his presence and believe he has not left you and you will continue having those encounters you once had.

It was the baptism of the Holy Ghost.I received Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Holy Ghost at the age of 7 years . I served the Lord and also strayed but today I am a Pastor with so many spiritual children and growing rapidly in ministry. Been back for over 20 years .,,, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose". Romans 8:28. When you are filled in the Holy Ghost it doesnt have an age limit , believing and yielding to the spirit is all that is necessary. The Holy Spirit is timeless .. Well , even as you are filled in the spirit it does not mean that you may not stray. Its a relationship thing; When you have a strong relationship with a person it will be very difficult to offend that peason . David said in Romans 4:8..''Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord will never count against them." That means the Lord has known them too well and they have known the Lord too deeply. You must endeavour to build a strong relationship with the H.S . You could build it constantly with (meditating on the word , prayers, tongue, praise worship, service, attend service constantly, preach the gospel always, praise and worship,do the word, exhibit His fruits to the world etc.) All these and more will help to build a solid realtionship with the Holy Spirit, he will guide you not to fall again, Even if you fall by error quickly make peace with Him in through calling on the blood of Jesus Christ and don't repeat your errors, have faith that He has forgiven you. He will help you when you're weak and give you stenght, He will minister to you and give you wisdom and insight , He will reveal to you things that are to come and even help you escape sin o trouble. Be steadfast in praying in tongue always that will build your most holy faith without which no one can please God. Its been almost 13 years that I realized that as you build your relationship with the Holy Spirit and may be you stray by error he does not live you. All my life the religious people taught me that the spirit stays in me as a result of my good works . ....Thats a very big lie.... In the old testament it was like that , but in the new testament we now know that He is patient and kind and always there for you .... One day I was meditating on the promise of the coming of the Holy Spirit by our Lord Jesus and my eyes caught something that I hadnt seen ... Look... Ralphstan Roache Stop resisting and release d gift in you. It's a gift, hence you have d choice to receive, to release and put it into action and enter other dimensions of d fruit of d spirit or not. This is why our God though d Almighty is so different. from those other things out there that people call god. @@Sam-cq9us Well you have to practice thanking the Lord he has given you, your heavenly language to talk to him, it will sound funny you will seem like you are silly for doing it, but the Holy Spirit will give you syllables and you will hear different sounds to say, but don't say what you are use to, just open your mouth and speak as you being to praise him he will give you syllables, just like a baby just don't come into this world and start speaking, the baby has to be taught the language of the parents, I am going to encourage you to just start practicing your heavenly language today and keep doing it you will be amazed at what God will say to you. The word "scourges" in v.6 is incorrect the word their actually means to be developmentally trained as in a gym setting.

r grey I also am a strong Christian but I dont speak in tongues. Im on an 18day fast cos I want to give God my full attention and avail myself to Him, so I can have the gift of speaking in tongues and other spiritual giftings. The gift of the spirit is made available for everyone who is saved. So dont think u will never have the gift of speaking in tongues. Pray more about it and fast. Give God ur attention and really tell Him u want the gift. And above all, have faith. I had a prophecy last year about how my lack of faith was the reason for me not recieving the answers to my prayer(which was to speak in tongues).Without faith God cannot work in you.

r grey hey there . I was feeling the same way as you . And one week ago I prayed to god before going to sleep and I asked him to please help me see that i have the Holy Spirit in me . I told him I want to do his will and feel like he's guiding me. I fell asleep . Woke up like at 7 am then went back to sleep and 5-15 into my sleep (I think I was barely falling asleep although I don't remember my dream) I woke up speaking in tongues! I was so happy I started crying and now I feel so amazing every doubt I had is gone. So please keep praying to get this gift don't feel discouraged. Wait on him . Remember gods timing is perfect & trust me now I see why he took longer to give me that gift . 💖

cindy hey, Thanks fr the encouragement. I have started speaking in tongues and im super excited, it happened a week after Pentecost day, my friend layed her hands over me and prayed for the gift and i received it and wow its been such a beautiful day of my life..God's so good.

Lew 1 Cor. 12:8-11. Our calling is to be disciples to the world. And guess what the disciples did? The spoke in tongues, they healed the sick, cast out demons. Those are not metaphors. Jesus even stated we would do far greater than things then he did. But how do we do that? By getting close to the Holy Spirit aka praying in tongues.

However in terms of the public ministry operation of the gift of tongues, it is quite correct to say that not all will function in that, and that is true of all the ministry operations, not all will function in any one gift. But as for the private operation of tongues? Yes, that is for all. In every case where any visible evidence is mentioned at all, when the Holy Spirit baptism occurred, tongues is named, and in cases where no visible evidence is named, such as with Paul, other references make it nevertheless clear that tongues is part of the experience. The sign of tongues is also named as one of the 'these signs will follow' in Mark 16:17-18.

There is no example of Spirit baptism that was not accompanied by tongues, and even in those cases such as Paul where it isn't mentioned at the time, other scriptures bear out that tongues was part of it. However I don't hold that it is a requirement for salvation as some argue. I do believe that tongues is a universal gift that every Spirit-filled believer can exercise, in their own privacy, and I believe the distinction between private and public tongues is at least implied, if not explicitly cut-and-dried stated, by the wording around "if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in the church, and speak to himself and to God." If there weren't private tongues that statement wouldn't be necessary at all, in fact it wouldn't even make any sense, because what is it talking about, if it isn't about private tongues? And if there are private tongues, why would there be anyone who didn't have them?
