Thanks, Recky! I think the reason I pretty well always prefer Home Free's version of a song to other groups is that are so "together". They're like one entity with five unique but balanced and complementary voices - if that makes any sense! It's what makes their harmonies so full and smooth.

I've listened to all 3, and love them all too Reckyi. The bass here was being carried not by Tim the regular bass, but by the baritone/bass guy Chance who was over on the left. And he did an amazing job too ! I also agree that Adam, the beatboxer was a real winner here too ! His coices for the beat, gave it a slight R&B vibe which goes really well with this song. Please look at doing Home Free's version of Silent Night from 2018 I believe...I think there is an older 2010 version too...but it's mostly different guys

The one you like best (as I do) is Rob Lundquist. The most balanced and beautiful voice I've heard. I like the way Adam (beatboxer) moves his body to get the cues to reach the sounds he's after...but the rest (especially Tim and Austin) will point to the notes, High or Low, that they are going to.

It would be difficult to pick a favorite, for sure. Voctave had the original songwriter, PTX is..well PTX but Home Free has Tim..and Rob..and Austin..and Chance..and Adam. Okay, okay..I prefer HF.😁 Keep on reacting and we'll keep on watching.

Loved it. Don’t compare, just enjoy them. It’s a beautiful song. Loved those harmonies. Loved Adam’s beatboxing and Chance’s low notes. Did you hear his growl at the end of “I am”? Amazing. The one you like is Rob Lundquist. He’s the tenor. He has a great voice. I love them all. I loved the setting too. So simple and serene like it was that night. Loved the stars and ambient light. Good reaction Recky.

The man with the beard and glasses is Rob Lundquist (lead tenor). He sings lead on a wonderful song Home Free did with Texas Hill called "Dreamer". Rob has such a sweet, soulful voice and an amazing sense of humor. In any situation, he's the first one to either start laughing or crack a joke that puts the others on the floor. Try also watching the "Country Fried Pop Medley" to see his sense of humor!

I love the way this video - the arrangement is wonderful. Having Tim Foust (the bass) pose the question "Mary Did You Know" adds a whole other level of meaning to the question. The beatboxing and singing, as always, are terrific. Just a marvelous arrangement.

I have an original song for you...co-written by the great TIM FOUST, bass of HOME FREE! It is on the lighter side and TIM sings lead in a high tenor tone. It is truely beautiful , as is this song. Since this was written, it has been my favorite song! Adam Rupp is spectacular and sets them apart from the rest. He is a 2 time world champion beat boxer! I commented earlier, but please delve down their rabbit hole, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!! AGAIN, I Love your reactions!

Wonderful reaction! Thank you. 2 suggestions for Christmas songs, both a little different from the Christmas songs most are familiar with. (1) "Go Tell It On The Mountain" with Home Free in collaboration with Texas Hill (2) "Children Go Where I Send Thee" with Home Free in collaboration with the late great Kenny Rogers. Both have great bass parts. Am enjoying your channel a lot. Merry Christmas and joy, love and peace to you and yours.

I have heard that when Home Free members were asked who is the best singer among them, all of them except Rob said... Rob. That reminds me of when my grandmother retired from teaching, she was almost unanimously voted teacher of the year. Everybody wanted to know who the one person was that voted for someone else. It was grandma. She was the only one who voted for someone else. 😆

Recky, I understand why you would not want to declare a preference for the three versions you have heard. You are a reactor and have to diplomatic since you may be reacting to the same artists again in the future. However, I will share with you the reason why I believe the HF version is the best imo. It is their arrangement that is distinctive from the others. The Voctave version with the original writer Mark Lowry is really beautiful and is excellent, and Mark is a great singer, and the background harmonies by Voctave were too. But, Mark and they followed the original format as he wrote it and gave a great long emphasis to the Lamb and then finished with I AM. Pentatonix was great also, but for me, it was all in the tenor range, and Avi, their bass at the time, did not use his bass voice very much, so for me it lacked balance throughout their version. Whereas, HF was strong on the bass notes throughout, and Chance did a great job with the bass drops about three times during the song. And then, HF did not finish with I AM, as the original does. They continued on with their harmonizing with Tim finishing it with Mary, Did You Know. Finally, Adam's beatboxing arrangement gave it a rhythmic beat that added depth where they other two versions lacked. I was waiting to watch your reaction on this one, and you are always on point. Merry Christmas.

If you watch Adam in the videos, he usually only moves when he's beat boxing. If he's harmonizing 99% of the time he stands perfectly still like he doesn't want to draw attention to himself. His brother said he doesn't feel comfortable singing lead because he wasn't vocally trained like the rest of them but's it's a shame because he has a beautiful voice that blends perfectly with the others.

Recky, You need to listen to "Let Freedom Ring" (Live) by the "Gaither Vocal Band". They did this song after 911 for the Firefighters that died that day. You will love that song. They are a fantastic vocal band with great harmonies. David Phelps is considered to be the best tenor singer in the world. Mark Lowry Wrote "Mary did you know" He has been a member of the " Gaither Vocal Band." Check them out please. You want be disappointed. Just amazed.

We really don't have to compare and choose one over the other, it's so much about personal taste and interpretation, everything in life is as we all have different filters through which we experience all of life. However, I'm always interested in hearing other people's views as it opens up my mind to interpretations other than own, so I'll share why I very much, without anyone else coming close, prefer Home Free's rendition (I am a Home Fry, though, so I'm not objective). Home Free has this skill of making it about the song, and not about them. The songs become bigger than the individuals of the group and the the group itself. I've heard this song by various different artists and this is the first time I realised how incredibly powerful the lyrics are. In fact, they might be the most powerful lyrics there are, and no other version I've heard has given me a clue that it is. Not even Mark Lowry himself. The pause before and strong emphasis of the words "I AM" especially, highlighted by that bass drop right, after are divine and incredibly important and powerful. The reason is that our brains actually have no choice but to believe what we think, feel and say we are and that is also the place we act from. Most people go through life adding words like useless, not good enough, not worthy, power less, trapped, ugly, too fat, too thin and all variations and version of that and we think it, and feel it, thousands of times a day, each day. And every time the mind and body have to believe it and adjust to it. This is science. It's how we work. So when we listen to this song, when we feel it, and when we're hit with the emphasis and power of those two words - well, the mind and the body have to believe that too and will adjust themselves, and in the extension our lives, to fit it. With this song we feel our power, the power of love that Jesus was all about, that was the message and the reason for his miracles. Now, I'm not a religious person, but I'm spiritual and I believe in science and today science and spirituality goes very much hand in hand in research and studies about the human being's well-being. This, right here, brings just that. It doesn't happen instantly, it's about progress and constantly stepping into the feeling of it, but magic is happening within and without when we feel this song, when it's saying like this. Because it becomes about me, not about Jesus and Mary. So that's why this is and always will be me favourite and the most powerful song I can ever hear. Add to that they know this already, that they know that while it is about Jesus, Mary, myself, it's also about everyone else because we all have the power within us and that too shows and is offered with their presence, their focus on the song and not on themselves. Add to that all their skills and talents. So, you see, to me there's no need to compare because there's nothing to compare with. While the songs is the same whoever songs it, the message they carry with their voices and arrangements are not fully the same. Thanks for the reaction, Recky! 🥰🙏

It is in the human nature to compare. Its hard not to. But in this case, even of its "alike" it differs a lot. They aint doing this song the same way. Some might thinks so. But not me. Thank you for sharing your input! ;)

@@Reckyj Actually it isn't in the human nature to compare, it's a trained and practiced behaviour based in the fear of not being good enough. It might be normal, but it's not natural. Two very different aspects.
