Your positioning of the slide while disassembling, utilizing the bench to prevent the firing pin and spring from shooting across the room, as well as the other positionings, are genius. I've watched many other vids on disassembling the slide and no one does it like you do. Thanks for showing me how to do things right.

Jason, you demonstrate and communicate your knowledge very well. The ability to clearly and simply explain is strong indication that you possess a thorough understanding of the subject. Your video tutorials are the best that I have witnessed.

Good, straightforward how to without the added nonsense that's all too prevalent on many vids. Thanks, Jason 👍

I do appreciate your time. Among this video and other videos, I really should have took the time to really learn my weapon and notice what it was doing to the rounds. First I thought magazine, then feed ramp, in my opinion if some light polishing with 2000 grit and then some rem oil cant fix something, then I dont need to be touching it, but I havent cleaned or checked my extractor tension before. It hasn't had too many rounds through it, maybe 2-300 but its a cheap rock island 1911. Checked it and it was beyond tight, was biting my ammunition cases as well as scuff marks where the forward motion of the slide along with the feed ramp were carrying the brunt of the work to shove the tail end of the round into the extractor, taking bites out of the cases and scuffing them as they entered the chamber. Now, the extractor is practically straight at this point and will fall out of the slide with a gentle tap, but it passes your test here and after all the other things I tried to smoothen it up, this thing runs like a wet dream. Thanks 👍

Excellent video! Nothing left to the imagination. I've been having erratic failure to eject issues with my Desert Eagle 1911C that's been killing my time at IDPA matches. I'm going to give this a shot. Thank you for your time making the video! Very helpful!

I had to do this with my RIA 1911 A2. It seems the armscor ammo they test with has just a slightly thicker rim than a lot of brass on the market. Making a minor adjustment got rid of my failure to feed issues.

I had just experienced FTF on my last shooting with the RIA 1911. Didn't have that on the first go around but the second time ranging. Really pissed me off. Good to know that decreasing extractor tension is the trick. I thought it was the Blazer ammo that was the issue, not the extractor. Seeing that you had this issue so long ago helps.

Recently, I've been getting failure to feed on my Citadel 1911 (Armscore), and I had suspected magazines, although I didn't used to have that issue. Going to check to see if the extractor is too tight tomorrow. Crossing my fingers, thanks for the video.

Jason good video, clear and straight forward. My new Colt Competition 9mm ejects rounds in all directions including at me. Could incorrect extractor tension be causing this? I don't want just buy parts blindly hoping to cure this problem.

One of the best videos I've seen.... Thanks. I have a Kimber 1911 45ACP and my Brass is flying everywhere, Far and wide and sometimes over my head... My friend has a different brand and they fall right at his feet, He could almost drop them all in a coffee can.. Could you give me any suggestions? If not I understand... Thanks again..
@Oldman_Taylor Жыл бұрын
LOL, bit late. But its likely your extractor is "clocking"- the firing pin block is not fitting the extractor tightly, and the extractor is rotating to a different posting a bit after each shot. The fix is working the block, not the extractor.
@slice9778 Жыл бұрын
My 1911 zings an empty shell casing by my head once every mag. with a Wilson's extractor. Since it's only one case per mag, do I still need to adjust the tension? If so, more or less? Thanks for your video!
@mrflynn5104 жыл бұрын
So, it's okay if the round moves slightly as long as it doesn't come out of the extractor's grip?
@Blakgun10 ай бұрын
If the cartridge remains under the extractor when you rotate the slide then you are either good to go, or the extra tension is too high.

Any advice on how to remove a firing pin stop that is stuck in place? I'm unable to move the stop on my 1911.
@TMcD3 Жыл бұрын
My issue is failure to go back into battery. I just had the extractor adjusted. Is this the result of too much tension on the extractor. This happens on all my magazines.
@Oldman_Taylor Жыл бұрын
Could be. That would be consistent with the extractor is too tight.
@TheDkb4277 ай бұрын
My 1911 crushes brass. It doesn't jamb up the gun which is weird so does that mean I need to loosen the extractor? I'm not a 1911 guy but this seems pretty easy just dunno why you would do this?
@calvin148883 жыл бұрын
There's a specific tools to add or decrease tention to the extractor.
@someusername1213 жыл бұрын
The part that was missing: you have too much tension if you're getting failure to strip rounds off of the magazine and the slide doesn't go in battery. Too much tension prevents the slide from being able to force the case under the extractor and you'll see the brass case edge getting "filed" flat by the extractor. It can also be due to the extractor hook needing some re-profiling so it doesn't contact the brass case as its sliding up.
@Matthew-np9fk2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been having this exact issue with my kimber. Thanks for this comment, I’m pretty confident my extractor is too tight.
@TheDkb4277 ай бұрын
My 1911 crushed brass cases but doesn't jamb up the gun. Hell I've only put like 500 round in it. Dunno if he said this in the video but why would you play with the extractor tension?

yep you're probably loose

too loose won't extract, and too tight won't feed.

How can you tell if there is too much tension on the extractor? My 10mm tosses brass ten yards back and ten yards left.
@farklefuster68763 ай бұрын
That is to the right
@aidansoccer125 ай бұрын
This doesn’t address if your extractor is too tight.

why do my round keep getting crushed when I chamber ?????

extractor is too tight not allowing it to move enough to properly feed.
