My step father was golfing buddy with a guy that was Dave Thomas best friend. He kept asking him to partner with him to start the Burger place. He always told Dave "No way!" there is Burger King, Burger Chef, McD, etc. It won't fly! So Dave told him,"If you don't go with me, I'll do it by myself!" He told Dave to have at it. I'm sure he kicked himself the rest of his life! lol

4:27 - "Where's The Beef!!??" = marketing gold. Best fast food commercial ever.
@lindawolffkashmir2768
@lindawolffkashmir2768 3 жыл бұрын
“Where’s The Beef?” was actually one of a series of surrealistic ads they had running at the time, showing faults of other fast food places. “Park It!” centered on the fact that after your order, you had to pull over and wait for them to bring out your food. “Through The Mill.” represented fast food restaurants that had frozen patties produced through a mechanical process, and not fresh beef, then another was how other fast food restaurants had food that looked and tasted the same, no matter what you ordered, and was represented by a Russian fashion show where the model came out wearing the same outfit, just carrying a different accessory each time. Plenty others of these, too. Funny stuff.

I always remember the Dave Thomas commercials. Yes I know that commercials are acting and stuff, but I’ve come to learn that the wholesomeness that Dave showed on camera was what he was mostly like in real life. It was nice to see Dave Thomas on the commercials for WENDYS.

Wendy's Chili is identical to the chili my mom made...I miss her a lot, but when I go to Wendy's, I usually get about 4 large Chili's to take home and freeze. It will keep for about a month, so I can still have a taste of 'mom's cooking' from time to time!

Wendy's is very nostalgic for me and my favorite fast food restaurant:)!! I think Wendy's should be number 1 and not number 3!! And I so remember as a Child, seeing that Commercial, "Where's the Beef?" and I used to laugh every time:)!! Also, I used to collect stickers as a Child and I have a sticker of Clara Peller asking, "Where's the Beef?" in my sticker album, which I have saved:)!! My Late Dad really LOVED to eat Wendy's chilly and I so enjoyed Wendy's hamburgers, which I think tasted way better than the other fast food restaurants:)!! My Mom, my Brother, my Late Grandparents and I LOVED Wendy's Frosty:)!! Unfortunately I am now lactose intolerant, but it was a nice treat from the past:)!! Also, At the former Wendy's that is no longer in my neighborhood, had Salad Bars into the Late 1990s:)!! My Mom, my Late Dad, and I all LOVED to eat the Salad along with the pasta and garlic bread, all at Wendy's:)!! In addition to this, as a Child, Wendy's Table Tops had the antique Newspapers with antique sales adds from the turn of the Century:)!! As a Child, I so LOVE to read them:)!! And on a visit to Wendy's in 1995, I got a Happy Meal and I still have the Pink Rocking horse Toy that opens up with a Cabbage Patch girl rocking in a tiny rocking horse along with a dial which I can change the setting from day to night:)!!! Thank you so much for this really awesome history on Wendy's:)!! And God Bless Dave Thomas for helping with Adoptions:)!! He sounded like a real kind hearted person:)!!!

I'll never forget my first Wendy's cheeseburger. It was 1978, I was barely 11 and unfortunately my grandfather passed away and we traveled from Virginia to Iowa to attend his funeral. My dad drove us around town, Ames, to get refamiliar where he grew up and we stopped at a Wendy's and had lunch. Best fast-food burger I had at that point, big and juicy. That's back when after the burgers were cooked they put them in a warm bath of water which they long ago stop doing because of sanitation requirements.

After moving to Japan, I noticed the absence of Wendy’s in Tokyo, but fortunately they made collaboration restaurants with Japanese chain First Kitchen, so that I can still enjoy a great Wendy’s burger. Love this channel. Lived much of the fun and now “interesting and historic!” aspect of those nostalgic times. 15 cent Mc Donald burgers, candy bars 3 for a dime, ice cream 5 cents a scoop (if you could balance 3 or 4 it was ok), gas or a quart of oil 25 cents each. Was that about 1965? My dad bought me my first car, ‘53 Chevy blu-white under 50,000 miles for $50.00! Showroom condition. Can’t adequately describe the feeling of the comfort and roominess of that car’s interior, like sitting on a very nice sofa and the back seat had that rope grip across the back of the front seats to help you get out. $50.00 car. 25 cents a gallon, 15 cent hamburgers. It only lasted a few years. Guess it was all relative. Maybe our grandkids will look back at $25,000 first car, $6.00 a gallon gas, $8.00 hamburger ……….
