I was here from the very start around 1.7k subs if I remember correctly and Ali I can really truly say you’ve changed my life from me getting incredible mock results(and hopefully Alevel) from using your revision tips to me buying an IPad and the keyboard for uni (I’m currently typing on it and I love it) to just general life advice. Man I’ve never met you but you feel like a friend. And I hope you see this as I just wanted to say thank you so much.

I'd also include a monitor (only ~£100 for a decent 1080p one) for use with the laptop when in your room. Having two screens works wonders for my productivity.

I can vouch for the Kindle recommendation and all the supporting arguments Ali stated. Bought my first ever Kindle like two years ago and read over 100 books in a year (Yeah, I'm not kidding! A new book every three days). It's so much lighter than my phone so it's really easy for my tiny self to hold it with one hand while lying down or even in the bathroom 😎 Ali is definitely right about the distraction part. I put my phone on the other side of the room while I'm on my bed reading and next thing I know I've been reading for 45 minutes straight. Kindle is definitely one if not my most prized possession. Made me fall in love with reading again.

Hi, I like to collect and read books from the library. I have a physical copy of whatever I am reading on my bedstand ready to pick-up and directly in front of me - which is great for when I need to go to bed. Furthermore, I am able to renew and reserve other books through the library app. But usually, when I am travelling/commuting I don't bring my book out and tend to just scroll through social media. The main benefit from receiving library books is that they are free and easy to collect. The drawbacks are that; sometimes I may have to wait weeks until I get the opportunity to read a book that I received earlier, I don't like bringing out a huge book out on public transport etc. I am considering purchasing a Kindle, the main thing that would tip me over is if there is a way to read books for free (as I do with library card now) if possible? I think this would add another 15-30% of reading to my day.

@@Torchman- there is also a option of buying a kindle unlimited subscription. it doesn't offer all the books, but most of the popular titles at just 10$ per month. you can borrow upto 10 books at a time, advantageous when I feel like reading fiction and not a self-improvement book but want to get back to it later

The best camera is the one you have with you. You don't need an expensive camera. I have an iPhone 6 and I take amazing photos. Not trying to build myself up here, just saying that you should use the stuff you already have and upgrade when you've reached the limit of your equipment if it is actually limiting to you. I really enjoy photography. It's a hobby. All I have is an iPhone 6. Yes, I would like to upgrade to a camera with a bigger sensor and larger lens, but as a college student, especially in the US, you should use what you have. Like I said, photography is one of my hobbies, but it would be an unnecessary purchase to buy a new camera. The limitations bring creativity. Update: I now have a film SLR and I love it so much!!

If you're frustrated with the camera quality, get a new phone or a new camera if you can afford one. If you don't care, stop complaining. Personally, my iPhone 6 is limiting me, but I still can't afford a real camera.

Vlad Omota in the UK we have access to really good student loans. Plus a decent minimum wage means we’re not as bad off as you guys when it comes to education.

He made recommendations, people. He never said you have to buy the products of the brands in the video, nor did he mention anything about you better buy it in pristine conditions. Try to find cheaper alternatives, just as long as it serves your needs and fit your budgets. Don't go apple, go android, don't buy new, buy used. Don't buy all at once, but wait for sale and refurbished annoucement. Geezzz

The fact is none of this products matter if you are a hardworking student. These are also meant to be bought once someone gets a job atleast in my country. These things if owned my a student is considered luxury and is labelled as a spoiled brat from a rich background.

Soubhik Mondal I only considered something luxury if you own it while you don't need it. If you need it for your work or your study, no matter how expensive it is, it's a necessity.

Hi Ali, I’ve watched your videos over and over again and I’ve started to use some of your methods like questioning my self using Google Sheets and trying to space out my learning rather than cramming everything into one day and I just wanted to thank you for sharing this, because I feel like I have wayyyy more free time and I understand and most importantly I remember the subjects way more than I did before. Ali is in a world of his own being well off. He has no idea of what it is like to be struggling from week to week wondering if you can eat and not be evicted. I have seriously been thinking of unsubscribing because of his attitude; he never used to be like this. To say he never looks at the price of kindle books is so insulting to those wondering if they can afford a loaf of bread. Shame on you Ali.

@@capyboppy he's earned his money through his hard work; and that is not just by his studying, but his various other branches, for example his youtube channel. If you are so conflicted in regards to whether you can afford a loaf of bread or not, id suggest increasing your productivity and stop bitching.

@first name last name Many others work hard too; taking jobs in-between studies etc. but they can't afford the calibre and expense of many of these items. That I and others don't have an issue with; it was the flippant way he came across as spending to get good value. We don't dispute they may be good value, but many many students even when working jobs still could not afford these 'extras'. One should never forget their roots; especially if they have grown up poor and made good. As we don't know Ali's background we can't say what other help he may have had from family for example. Nobody is judging Ali, they are just being aware that somewhere along the way he seems to have 'lost it' a little as to how difficult it is for many students just to survive.

@@capyboppy I agree in the sense that family and other background may be factors to Ali's supposed wealth in comparison to most other uni students, and therefore some of the options he suggests may be a little on the expensive side; however i felt it was harsh to immediately feel 'shame on you' about Ali was appropriate, when as you suggested yourself, we are unaware of Ali's background, and perhaps he hasn't had much help from his roots- he simply may be proud of his hard-earned earnings, and believes others can also do the same for themselves. That being said, i do apologise as my previous comment may have come across as a little rude and harsh, but i feel its justified as i have enormous respect for Ali.

100% agree about the camera, A6000 is a great camera. The 16-50 mm kit lens is a good lens until you can afford a better one or two.

I think im the only one really cant focus when music is on the background, wether it has lyrics, instrumental, any genre, i tend to listen closly and get lost in the music or imagine a whole freaking movie scene. Im weird.

💥📚⚠️Ali, Need your advice 💥📚⚠️ Quick Q: I've got more or less 50 days left for my exams. I have 8 different papers / exams. Some do have more than 50 days left but I've rounded it to 50. HOW would I use your topic timetable / retrospective timetable in this instance since I've got to revise for each paper and ONLY have a total of 50 days. Just to add: I have 8 papers but only 3 subjects. - subject 1 = 3 papers - subject 2 = 2 papers - subject 3 = 3 papers Any advice on how to organise all of this into days will be very helpful Thank you again :)

I purchased my 11in iPad pro 2018 after watching how you use it for Med school and it has been really good. There has been enough advancement in the App Store that can allow you to use it pretty much as a computer.

I'm in Upper Sixth and bang out my movie soundtracks playlist on my small speaker; am obsessed with Anki and created a spreadsheet similar to yours (definitely not as good though.....) as well as aggressively using mindmaps. I just watched this video, in which you showed 4614 followers of your playlist on Spotify, I go to follow it, and you already have 10,347 followers. Amazing. I have a hard time studying with music, the music is usually too distracting for me. You might also like "Lofi hip hop beats - beats to study/relax/game to (Chillhop Music" it's pretty low key music that I find much less distracting than most.

I love listening to music when studying, there's a playlist on Spotify called Peaceful Piano which is one of their official playlists and they update it very often. It's a 300 song 12h playlist of peaceful piano and it's not too distracting while reading.

7:10 is golden, I too try to reduce listening to songs with lyrics while working. Brain.fm is my favorite so far, but I will try your playlist today. Ultimately I want to fully transition to earplugs but it is a habit I find hard to build on. Thanks for the video, would also love to see how your experience with Notion is going so far.

Ali Abdaal I have a question regarding the IPad. I own the 10.5 iPad Pro, but don’t have the apple pencil because I have always thought it was overpriced. Do you think the the Apple Pencil is necessity or not?

I'm going to check out a Kindle for Christmas. The books are way cheaper than regular paper books. I usually real popular science and most books cost me around 15-40 bucks each. That's a lot of money in the long run.

Awesome video! I actually watched a bunch of your videos about the iPad Pro back in September, since this is my first year of university and it has helped me a lot, so thanks for that! I have many of the things mentioned in the video, but I don’t have the kindle. I just recently started reading again (for leisure and not just textbooks), and I really enjoy the physical book in my hand. Is the kindle also as enjoyable of an experience? The down side to buying every book I want to read is that it is quite costly given that books range from $10-30, compared to kindle versions which are less than $5. I also like the freedom of actually owning a book to read at my own pace compared to checking out books from the library.

Go to google type library genesis and open the site using VPN and download any kindlebook.! Simple.! Before anyone misunderstands my suggestion and say "Copyright infringement".. a student is always on a tight budget. Save every penny wherever possible. Period

Long time sub here. I wish you would've gone into lighting more. I fuckin hate that in my room the only lighting is the 3 yellow lightbulbs in the fan lightning above me. I would rather not use that lighting and instead just buy 4 lamps to put in each coroner of my square room. Any recommendations on which lamps, the color/hue, the bulb type, brands, etc. Would like more detail man, been actually thinking about it heavily past couple weeks and wanna change this. Hope you see this and comment.

Completely agree with your recommendations. My next purchase defo has to be a good quality camera. Just got the new AirPods in today and I think they are essential for students and everyone else as they are so convenient. After watching your AirPods review video I just had to get myself a pair, it's a shame apple doesn't sponsor you haha. I uploaded my first ever video today of me unboxing them. Hopefully I can get into the swing of uploading regularly like you do.

I very much doubt the average student on maintenance loans will be able to afford all this. I certainly would not even have dreamed of getting a nearly £300 set of headphones or a £500 camera. And also only get 4 lamps if you want to fall out with your housemates about electricity bills.

Hi! I noticed that you're quite a techie person and use technology to maximize productivity. I have just gotten interested on EMF radiation on mobile devices and household equipments and it's effect on human/animals health. I haven't read enough studies but maybe can you do video about this as well as the effects of blue lights emitted by mobile devices on eyes, skin and overall health?
