If your here for school and have to summarise the 3 main things he apologised for here: 1. The hurt and suffering of the indigenous people 2. The indignity of aboriginals at that time 3. The mothers who’s kids were taken what they went through I think that’s right

@Jim-zd6mn we also stole their kids, forced them into our way of life and didn't allow them to do anything else, tried to completely delete their culture, colonised their land and acted as if they weren't there or as if they were animals, nearly killed enough of them to make them extinct, among many other things

Member for Griffith, the only Federal Minister who publicly apologised. A true humanitarian and his seat at the bench was below him.

Wonderful. Now let us take it one step further to show our respect. We need to become an independent country, and we need to change our flag.

@@fungus2116 Aboriginal people are still treated as dumb and second class citizens.. so it going to take a long time to change these attitudes. Kevin R said sorry. But what did that really do? Racism still lives on, discrimination still happens and we have a long way to go before change takes hold.

Regardless if you like Kevin Rudd or not he knew how important this speech was to Australia but also to the rest of the world as well to show the world that Australia deeply regrets all of the pain suffering and sorrow that was caused by White Australians to the First Nation Australians.

Pain like getting them of the dirt floor😂 giving them real food. Giving them education. Stopping the woman and children being beaten raped murdered claimed as they like.. 😂why not why your on here next time get on some malcom Douglas films listen to what the "true" indigenous had to say. Not just your coffee late city slickers wanting $$, land$$rent',$$treaty$$$,retribution $$ more indigenous taxes on housing land road usage. $$$

Why are people in comment sections of these kind of videos always so weird? Like out of the 28k views there are 133 likes and 5 dislikes and I can guarantee most of the views are from school students and teachers.

an extremely important speech however he is the one that brought in the policy of sending asylum seekers to offshore detention to be "processed" never to be resettled, Kevin i am so thankful you did this speech however i am very disappointed for the policy you continued 7 years ago which has ripped away families
