Thanks for sharing, you’ve exposed me to a lot of new artists that I doubt I would have found on my own.

I really should get a copy of PinUps because of the Syd Barrett cover of See Emily Play. I love Bowie and love Syd Barrett. This album never really interested me for a long time until I started reading about Syd Barrett and discovered what an amazing songwriter he was. I do a lot of travel for work - pre COVID that is - and I always made time to visit the local record store and dig. It can be fun! No telling what you might find! And you found some gems!

The Alarm was a band from Wales that had som success in the 80's. They kind of remind of early U2 with songs like ''68 guns'' and ''Spirit of 76''. I remember them from back when i was 12 years old. My older brother was into them. Thanks for your video 😊👍🤘

China Crisis was a British synt- pop band on there highest begin to middle 80's. "Flount the imperfection" was the 3th. album, after the most famous "Working with fire and steel" album. I have a small 80's British synthpop obsession. also in my record colletion

The Alarm opened for U2 during the War tour and I had the opportunity see them and led to 30 some odd year love affair with their music. Recently saw them a local club not to long ago. Lone Justice was a country punk rock out of LA coming out around the time of the country punk movement that produce Rank n File , the Best Farmers and The Long Ryders. Beat Rodeo was a country rock band from NYC put together by Richard Barone of the Bongos and Steve Alana’s of the Suicide Commandos. I believe they recorded that album at Mitch Easter Drive Inn Studio which was the home to the early recordings of REM. Always good to fun new stuff. Thanks for sharing😃

Nice album pick ups. The Ventures are hard to find too. My local Goodwill is still closed and my local record store is going out of business too. I think tomorrow is supposed to be record store day. I don't even know a place near me participating, without driving 50 miles I used to drink Rolling Rock when I lived in Ohio. Can't find it here in New York though.

Great finds. It’s good you went to some different places. I like that Bowie album! I just got back from a road trip to my grandpa’s. Got quite a few amazing albums from a record store and 4 level antique shop. Promotional copies of Jimi Hendrix “Rainbow Bridge”, Kitaro “Tenku”, Jethro Tull “Too Old To Rock ‘N’ Roll: Too Young To Die!” and UK pressings of Vangelis “Spiral”, “Beaubourg”, and his album with Jon Anderson “The Friends Of Mr. Cairo”. Then US pressings of Roxy Music “Avalon”, Al Di Meola “Casino”, Chick Corea “The Leprechaun”, Spyro Gyra “Morning Dance”, Emerson Lake & Palmer first album with hype sticker, Yes “Close to the Edge”, and The Buck Pets first album.

I can’t wait to put them on my turntable! It’s interesting that UK pressings were in that record store. The owner was guessing that maybe guys in the military must of picked them up or something. Who knows. I couldn’t believe finding that promo of Rainbow Bridge. The cover has ring wear and such, but the vinyl is NM. My dad got a white label promo of “Close to the Edge”. I got a normal one. It’s our favorite Yes album. It was awesome to go searching for vinyl with my Dad.

More excellent finds Topper. Hope this won't be your last finds with the stores closing. Do you have any flea markets that you can go to? Around my area some flea markets have closed due to the owners of the properties sold out to developers. The ones remaining have pure trashy albums or great ones at ridiculously high prices and they will not negotiate on the prices. Peace to all and please stay safe.

I enjoy your videos, also like your guitar playing. Covid 19 affect us here in Canada too, most record shops couldnt recover. Sad!!! Any thoughts on record weights? Have you done a video on this? Keep up the good work!!!
@oddboxTopper
@oddboxTopper 4 жыл бұрын
I do not own a record weight. Nor have they mentioned them in any of my videos. However, I feel that they may be useful on records that may have a slight warp. But as for affecting the tonality of a record I have no opinion because I have not tried one on my turntable. Thanks for watching and commenting. Peace.

It's heartbreaking how this virus is destroying Mom & Pop shops. Love Bowie's Pin Ups. You're right it's a great cover album. His renditions of the old 60s makes them his own. Can't go wrong finding a Ventures album. Grace Under Pressure? Dude major find. Can't find anything by Rush around here. And that Who comp WOW! Baby Don't Do It (live) was the B-side of Join Together. A jukebox back in my hometown (in a landromat no less) had Join Together and I would play the B-side over and over again. Drove people crazy. Haha. I absolutely love SO by Gabriel, has to be my favorite lp by him. Great stuff Topper. Later man.

Is your head the green one, or the brown/white one or the Willie Nelson mask one. Never found anything interesting about the ventures they were like the sputniks both tried to be the Shadows but failed miserably. You did well my friend. Of all your pick ups Manfred Mann would be the one I would have to play first. Question ..what is Barnes and Noble a solicitors who sell records or a spin off of Noble records. There was a glut of groups similar to Alarm in the middle 80s, Comsat angels, Sound, Zound, but they were all worth seeing live and still worth a listen today.
@oddboxTopper
@oddboxTopper 4 жыл бұрын
Barnes and Noble is basically a chain of bookstores that also sells records, CDs, movies and various other odds and ends. Noble records is a single owner record store near Charlotte North Carolina. Yes, that Manfred Mann is very good.
