Ahh the tournament arc. Almost every shonen battle anime has one. From the Dark Tournament in Yu Yu Hakusho to the Sports Festival in My Hero Academia. Some may argue that it's been over done and I can see where they are coming from. That's why today I'll be reviewing possibly one of the funnest tournament "arcs" that I've read. Welcome to the Record of Ragnarok. Also known as Shuumatsu no Valkyrie. Are you guys excited for the new Record of Ragnarok anime?!

Shūmatsu no Valkyrie is a Japanese manga series written by Shinya Umemura and Takumi Fukui and illustrated by Ajichika. It began in Tokuma Shoten's seinen manga magazine Monthly Comic Zenon in November 2017.

The fights so far is basically Lu bu vs thor: a shonen fight, one guy does his special, the other guy does his special Adam vs zeus: hajime no ippo Sasaki kojiro vs Poseidon: edgy kid fights the kid that has worst attendence in schoo jack the ripper vs hercules: jojo part 2 Raiden vs shiva: a jojo stand rush fight

Definitely feature worthy by concept alone but it’s scaling, verbiage, and rationale is really Far from good. The art is awesome, the designs are awesome, the logic though? A heap of hot horse hooey lmbo You Perfectly noted All the great points of this series! The fights, the pace, the back stories (convoluted as they are too). The brevity if this video is smart, considering the audience interested in RoR are likely short on patience and want that ‘impact in seconds’ efficiency. Great video!

But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a shot of testosterone after reading this every month. Everyone needs that fun manga to read after reading something depressing like Chainsaw man lol. Though you say the target isn't to be some thought provoking piece, that doesn't mean they shy away from it. Fight 4 (And I will refer to it as JUST fight 4 to avoid spoiling the matchup for newcomers) is not only a surface level physical conflict but a philosophical one, pitting Good vs Evil and handling it with the same nuance as the best of fiction. Both fighters backstories parallel each other in a lot of ways. Both came from poverty, both were beaten by those stronger than them, but they handled these fundamental facts of life far differently from the get go. One learned deceit to get past these confrontations, while the other never backed down from doing the right thing, even knowing he'd end up floored for it.
