good info. I do think a number of people getting into recording do not start out with room control first. I recently sent a person a small list of things to help him get started. 1st. was the room! then placement of speakers(monitors) Tried to explain how to set up monitors ETC. I also think having a sub or 2 is a good thing and it helps me to better set my Bass in the mix. I will look for more of your info.

I got some sound traps and ceiling clouds in my studio and it totally changed my world! I use Genelec 8030b and they really sound so killer now. For Genelecs (at least per my model's manual) the acoustic axis to point at your ears is actually the space right right between the tweeter and woofer, so it could be helpful to refer to your monitor's manual since precise placement is so important.

I started my recording journey around 1980 around the same time I started gigging around the upper Midwest and there were things I noticed like why some rooms were prone to low frequency feedback and others were prone to high frequency feedback and why the recording studio we recorded at had wonderful low end in the studio but once you took the mix into your car it was lacking in the low end in a big way and I couldn’t understand what the engineer was doing that made the mix so different than what I heard in the studio but I finally get it because back then we didn’t know about room acoustics and why an empty bar sounds different than a room filled with people and why a sub placed in the back corner filled the room more than front firing but now that I’m building a recording studio and I understand that a speaker is a box in a box and everything in the secondary box has a different effect on the sound within it like the 1000 watt Euris speakers 🔊 with 15” speakers in a room with no bass traps 🪤 easily overwhelmed the tiny room and we thought the low end goodness was coming from my bass guitar 🎸 but the more you know the more you grow

I bought a bunch of Owens Corning 703 insulation boards. Wrapped it in fabric and placed at reflection points. I did my entire back wall 4 inches deep of 703. As far as reflections from speaker placement within the room, I sat at listening position and had someone run a mirror along wall. When I could see the reflection of the speaker, I treated that spot. I’m also facing the short wall of room. With listening position at about 34% Length of the long wall.

I would suggest shooting with a higher f stop like f4. Your camera is so wide open that it barely can focus but on a small area at any given time.
