I wish Assault On Precinct 13 had come out back in the 70's. I have Halloween 🎃 & Portishead but sold Halloween 2 years ago. My favourite Radiohead album is In Rainbows 🌈.

I SO wish Assault came out on Vinyl originally. What a soundtrack, might be his best. Cheers! 🎉

Out of print reissues are something to consider as well. Many have increased in value overtime, especially in the rare or obscure Psych genre.

Agree and I must say I have foolishly sold some re issues I should not have, some of those prices have really increased, thanks for comment

Interesting choices and funny to see Glass Family on here. I did recently sell it, for much more than I bought it for to your point. I never could quite get into the vocals but a cool one. The Halloween soundtracks no doubt. I can see those continuing to climb

Fun vid, interesting 🤔 and informative. I do own some of the fore mentioned albums but not all are OG. Halloween soundtracks eh, wow who would have thought. I have dozen of soundtracks but not those 😢. Oh speaking of collectable items, I love that Patrick Nagel print in the background. Oh the 80’s were fun. I used to have a print of his back in the day, not sure what ever happened to it. Wife most likely tossed it before a move lol. Those were very popular after the Duran Duran Lp cover, might be worth something???

Thanks for comment, oh yeah, those old Nagel prints, especially if they were printed in the 80s are worth some dollars, love that guy! Cheers!

Watched 5 reasons and now this video and I think you are correct on why OG vinyl will continue gain in popularity and price. When I first started collecting the 3 big C's were condition, condition and condition, I modified that to condition, is it complete? And cost. And I lived by that until the last few years, now my 2 C's are condition pretty much nothing less than a VG+ and is it complete, by that I mean is it the pressing I want and are ALL the inserts, inner sleeve, hype sticker hell stickers if one came with that press. I want it complete and pretty much cost be damned, well with in reason. That's how I see it, enjoyed and agreed with both vids.

Hello Dan....history repeats....collecting before our times had doo wop and early RnR recs at high prices....those went down in our times and hippy staff, psych went up....in a few years i predict that all good trip hop recs will fetch high prices like the Portishead one....by the way i have it on vinyl and cd....shall i keep the cd only???haha i didn't know that is expensive i have it somewhere upstairs on my living room forgotten.....deuces amigo always one step ahead.....

Great stuff there! Generally, I’ll pick up any mid 90s albums if I can get them at a decent price. Would love some of those US psych albums, but they’d break the bank at UK prices. Wow! Nice Midnite Vultures!

I've been collecting since the mid 80's. Honestly l've never considered value. Figure true value would be had at record fairs, so we'd have to put in the work.

Don't think I've ever bought vinyl for the investment, but you put a decent case forward here Dan as to why we should bear it in mind. Theres' not too many 90s albums i would invest in original copies although Supergrass' In it for the Money would be a likely contender. ( i think they're already going for over £300 GBP despite recent reissues. Great video as always.

Hmmm..., sorry Dan, I don't personally buy records for investment purposes. I buy 'em because I like 'em. To me, the big hitters are out there, if ya wanna pay the bucks, but some of the stuff I try to hunt down isn't worth mega-bucks, and probably will never be. It's that they're just scarce/hard to find, but might only cost a few dollars or so if you can find a copy. 🤫I won't mention any names.

@@dotsloops7486 Luckily for me, I managed to grab a heck of a lot of goodies I was after back in the 80's/90's. I think these days I'd be hard pushed to pay big bucks, but of course it would depend on the record and price. My most recent purchase, which I'd been hunting down for years, cost me $15 for a really decent copy. There's only been two listed on discogs, with one selling in so-so condition, for $42 a year or so ago. It's not mega rare, but it's bloody hard to find a copy.

I see some people mad at this subject but for me as a collector, I wouldn't sell what I have for money. But I'd be lying if I told you I didn't look at what the aftermarket price is, and get gitty when I scored on a record I bought. Cool video, I'm a soul and funk fan so I'd be interested to see a video on that genre. I know there's a couple 45's I have from a up and coming soul artist (Jalen Ngonda) that dropped his debut last year, and some of his 45's are going for 60-80 bucks. And yes it made me gitty, and I play it lol

Great video. I am planning a video of the most valuable finnish records. When searching the data you'll find 3 big genres in Top 50: 60s jazz, 70s prog and 80s hardcore. If you are in the vinyl only as investiment then I would go 90s-00s records/CDs... When nostalgia soon hits those recs are going to raise in price...

Hey Dan. I collect mainly for the music, so I find it hard to buy a record that I would never listen to. I would love to own some Radiohead lps, they are as rare as hen's teeth. The motion picture soundtracks, however, I would never purchase. I do own The Electric Family Band, Groundhogs, Yesterday's Children, Dragonfly & The Stones originals. Fortunately, I obtained those before the crazy price increases began. You may consider doing a follow up video, there are many more you can touch on. ✌ ☮ 🕊
