Here is the full process involved in recovering VW Beetle seats using a set of TMI's great seat covers.

If you slow down the playback to 50% it approaches being a useful video. That is if you want to recover your VW seats on your own.

@@marioscerri3631 I had to check on the TMI site to check if my memory was correct and it seems they have changed the site. Im sure it was Red#7300 but you should really check with TMI if you need the door cards and seats to match. I dealt with Mario at TMI who was really helpfull and sent me swatches all the way to Scotland so that I was happy with the match.

The seat covers and door cards were ordered from TMI in California.

Nice job. Do u still have the old black seat covers u removed and would u like to donate them to a beetle I am restoring on limited budget ? I will patch up the torn portions.

Sorry, this was a few years ago now and the old covers went straight in the bin.

How did you line up the little nail when putting the bar back into the rear seat upright section? I'm recovering a '71 bug seat

Its a few years now since I did it but I will look back on the video clips I didnt use to see if it shows what I did. Is it the nail with the twist that goes in the seat back release bar?

If I remember it was getting the tension back in the spring that was difficult. I think I looped a small cable tie round the end of the spring so that I could pull it out the way to line up the nail. Its one of those jobs that needs about 5 hands to achieve.

Thats the problem. I was restoring a '67 Beetle (see my other videos) which these came out of. I restored the car with correct for the year floor pans and retrimmed the seats in a different garage. When I came to mate the two the runners were different so I think these seats are later but still got them to fit with a little modification.
