I know a lot of people who've had your experience. I know a lot who needed rehab, meetings, and/or counseling to get and stay clean and sober. Some addicts don't believe in the Bible or Christianity. That, IMO, will hurt them as far as their prospects for everlasting life, but many get clean for the time being. Most religious people in the world ARE NOT Christians, nor do they claim to be. So, the addicts who are non-religious or non-professing Christians will not be coming to your or anyone's church. However, some will still get clean. BTW, I am a Christian and a mental health and substance abuse counselor. I'm not a recovering addict, so I don't claim to be knowledgeable from personal experience. I have been able to successfully work with people using counseling theory and Bible principles (whether they know it or not).
@yulnikita
@yulnikita Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I can't stand it when he talks about his experiences like they're absolute facts or the standard. He always talks about how 'addicts need to go to rehab 7-8 times to get clean' and just said he saw ONE experience in his life where that was the case.. People absolutely can get clean through different methods.

I have over 30 years clean from Crack, weed, alcohol. Covid stopped my meetings, I haven't been to one since. I was always uncomfortable at meetings because of the few "extra nosey, thirsty, members that HAVE to either approach me (because I'm quier) to question me, I have to assume I don't fit in, I guess. Or the ones that know me will get up and announce something disrespectful towards me to gain my attention? It almost never fails, so instead of checking them, I just stay away, which is unfortunate

How was he interrupting her when he allowed her to speak for 3 minutes straight & not once did she mention any other price other than $400. Lol. Honestly idk why you are annoyed? This is literally how people begin to lie. & try to get more money than is really owed to her. Then people gone be looking at the judge cause he was unfair. Lol. Like sheesh. The judge is damned if he does. & damned if he doesn't when it comes to some of these comments. How bout yall try to hand out proper justice to every customer that walks into your job every single day of your life. Lol. Nobody is perfect. But as a judge every single little mistake you do is heavily watched & judged. Most of yall don't even be trying to deal with the customers at yo job fairly every single day. But yet yall get on judge Mathis head everytime yall think he is being unfair. Or talking over other people. Cause people will lie if you give them the opportunity. But yall want the judge to be extra nice to everyone also while handing out absolutely fair justice to everyone that presents their case in front of him. He isn't super judge. He is a human being.

You know people will get mad at people for saying that but coming out of any addiction or abuse or mental issues you have to find a spiritual connection and reason that’s bigger then the issue in order to heal. When you have been sober over 5yrs with no relapse and are sticking to it I feel like "recovering addict" should be dropped because you dont live there anymore. You can say "I used to be an addict but I have been sober for xyz" but saying "Im a recovering addict" and "my name is Shelly and Im a recovering addict" is keeping a person stuck in that space like a life long target.
