Krocks In The Kitchen

2 күн бұрын

We are Brian & Jessica, a married couple who started on a life-changing whole food, plant-based weight loss journey back in June 2018. In June 2022, our lives were flipped upside-down when Jessica was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer at age 36. Since then we welcomed our very first child via gestational carrier and bought a new house. In May 2024, Brian was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma at age 41. He had his left kidney removed and today he is sharing an update on his recovery and the pathology / staging of this cancer.

Thank you for sharing this important update. You're both such a beautiful example of strength, love and positivity. ❤ 🙏 Given the limited treatment options, perhaps look into a metabolic oncon approach that includes targeted low toxicity cocktails. Many have impressive results by inhibiting and interrupting the fermentable fuels that feed CA. The diet is different from plant based, but the published research continues to be very promising. Functional MD M Hyman is discussing this approach and there are many others. 🙏🏻

Now you are officially "two Krocks, three kidneys." My son was diagnosed with stage 3B RCC renal cell carcinoma at 31 during the pandemic. He had a radical nephrectomy like Brian. He took his doctors advice seriously, he tries to walk daily, for the most part eats well, gave up soda, high sodium everything, and doesn't go out to eat much anymore. I can't wait to follow along on your journey and try some of your delicious recipes. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a long and healthy life with your sweet wife and daughter, you got this Brian!

You and Jessica are shining examples of how love, fortitude and positivity see you through the most difficult of life's challenges. I have every confidence that both of you will be just fine and be around for a long time. My husband has been treated at Mayo-Rochester for the past three years and his stage 4 prostate cancer has been in remission for quite some time. His latest PSMA PET scan shows no signs of cancer! We are fortunate to have Mayo within a couple hours drive from us. We can't say enough good about them!

You need to do research on what feeds cancer so that it grows, and what turns it off. Meat protein turns it on, plant protein turns it off. The former makes the body acidic, the latter, alkaline. An akaline body and blood turns cancer off, whereas as acidity, turns it on. You need to watch the videos on “The China Study” by T. Colin Campbell, PhD. My husband has been on a Plant-Based diet since his Prostate cancer surgery, there has been no new cancers. What we eat does make s difference. We humans can make our food taste good, with or without meat. No cancer is a better choice.

@@courag1With respect, they don't "need to " do anything unless they choose to do it. As a cancer survivor, nothing piss#$ me off more than someone else saying (from their safe place) that "you need to do this" or "you need to do that".. From what I saw on this video, they have put their trust in their chosen methods of healing..and are happy with that. Be happy for them!!

Thank you both for sharing your life. I had no idea why I was so addicted to watching your videos and now I know why…Jessica I had to have bilateral ureteral stents placed for a procedure to do biopsies and figure out why I have had kidney pain for years and now with blood clots in my urine, your videos greatly helped me. Now I am having to face a diagnosis for which the treatment is a renal auto transplant, or me giving myself a kidney placed in a different spot. You two being vulnerable helps so many others and I think a but and pray for your family daily. I’ve been to Mayo once before about 12 years ago and now I’m referred again.

I had bariatric surgery 6 months ago. It was the best way for me to lose the amount of weight I needed to lose. I’ve lost 90 pounds so far and am working to lose another 35-40. It is a tool not an end all. It is not cheating. The surgery was not that difficult. What you have gone through through already it will not be nearly as difficult. I was up and walking dogs in 4 days. I have read much about this subject and bariatric patients are overwhelmingly the most successful in sustained major weight loss . Not that everyone who has surgery are successful, like I said it is another tool. You have to work at it. And yes you can remain vegan-plant based.

I'm so glad you've made it through surgery and recovery and are feeling good enough to post an update! I've been praying for all three of you and hoping for the best. Last year, your videos about Jessica's cancer journey were very helpful to me - she's about six months ahead of me in that journey. Last May I found out I had stage 4c ovarian cancer. I have been so lucky, my chemo all went well, then the debulking surgery, an intense and complication-filled recovery, then my final series of chemo. My surgeon is amazing, and my oncologist and medical team are awesome, and I feel better today than I have in years. I've gone to a whole food, fully plant-based diet, and have about 120lbs to lose as I gain fitness and better health. I will be thinking of you on your fitness and health journey as I am on mine, and hope and pray for you and Jessica and Elsie to have more joy in each other and life as each day comes. Thank you for sharing. When the challenging moments come, remember Phillipians 4:6-7.

I was diagnosed with RCC immediately after the birth of my first child, when I was 22. Still here at 56. I had an open radical nephrectomy. Tumor was 8cm by 10cm. It was huge and had completely taken over the whole kidney. Evidently it was fat and happy as they feed on blood and I had all that extra blood due to pregnancy. I'm shocked that there still isn't advanced treatment. What they told you is exactly what they told me so many years ago! i wish you the absolute best. I've moved on to my 3rd cancer. Breast cancer, stage 3c. Hopefully I'll live many years after this one, too.

Thank you for sharing Brian, and please know that many of your subscribers will be on the health journey with you so there is lots of support here for you when you need it. I was recently diagnosed with a chronic form of leukemia that I only learned about based on one single number on my annual bloodwork. One number and my entire life has changed. I also battle my weight and promised myself that I was not going to help the cancer cells defeat me because of poor eating habits and nutrition. I had a dream the night after I was diagnosed where these little cartoon cancer cells were hiding out in my blood and bone marrow and every time I put something in my mouth they got exited, hoping I was eating something that would help them get stronger. I envisioned their reaction when all they got was a salad with lots of green leavy vegetables and healthy grains and proteins, with a homemade dressing with no added sugar. They then waited for dessert in hopes of getting something good and all they got was some greek yogurt with frozen berries. They were SO DISAPPOINTED that I didn't give them anything to use against me. As for exercise, I imagine them encouraging me to lay on the couch "resting," watching TV or playing on my computer so that I am "taking it easy" and they can take advantage of my sedentary state. My goal is to show them that I am in charge and am determined to get the rest of my body as strong and fit as possible, so that it is on my side and fighting them with me. All that being said, I also thought of it as not wanting to necessarily get angry and wage war against them because I am in a "watch and wait" stage for however long and I want to peacefully coexist and have them get lazy and weak with nothing to do. I just wanted to share that with you because it truly has been a game changer for me. Putting a cartoon picture to the cancer cells helped me make them real in my head since I can't see them and I don't currently have any noticeable symptoms, and has also helped me curb the fear and anxiety that the C word brings. Wishing you the very best!!!

I adopted a child who is 50 years younger than me. (She was a foster placement who basically and happily never left). I approach every health issue with a simple: Dr! This kid cannot lose another parent. I cannot die yet. Now that we are clear, carry on. She is 14 this summer. We are near the finish line. Of course now I wanna be grandma to her future kids so maybe we pushin the finish line out a bit. That strong desire to stay alive for someone pulls weight. You got this.

Brian, my husband and I discovered Krocks in the Kitchen several years ago, and what a huge BLESSING you were to us during the pandemic. We’d huddle around the computer whenever you dropped a new show. I remember you sharing one of your favorite SOS spice blends, DAKS. It made us laugh to learn they were made right in our home town of Birmingham, AL. After seeing you mention them we even got to meet the creators of the various blends right at our local farmer’s market, where we stocked up on every variety they make. Haha! (they really help make SOS free food delicious) The DAKS family was extremely interested in finding the episode in which you featured them. Unfortunately, I couldn’t remember which one it was.🤷🏻‍♀️ If you ever run across it, let me know. Anyway, we are happy to see you forging ahead and have NOT ONE BIT of doubt that you can regain your health. You and Jessica are meant to be here, lighthouses for health, happiness, family values, positivity - all things good. We’ll be here waiting to see what comes next (although doing it from Chattanooga now that my husband has retired too). By the way, you’d love Chattanooga. There’s so much history here, and it’s a great family vacation destination. Remember that when you get better. God bless your little family. Keep on keeping on.💪🏽

So excited for you Brian. Praise the Lord for answered prayer. He is faithful. And does deserve our praise. I have horseshoe kidneys. (Connected together, but work independently. In 2006 I discovered my own tumor on the left kidney. Only because my horseshoe kidney is placed under my ribcage not in my lower back. Laying in bed one night I began palpitating my uper stomach and discovered the tumor. The Lord put all this in motion. My Dr., a great friend, Christian, immediately had a strategy after some imaging. The tumor was totally encapsulated all margines were clear. He didn't want to take the whole kidney and mess with separating the kidneys. God saved my life. I'm so happy for your testimony. Proverbs 3:5&6. A Don Moen chorus🎶. Lol. I don't think I've ever seen you cook in the kitchen. I got hooked on you guys and your story. I live the fact that you just update. You don't pretend to live a life or be someone that your nor. I love you guys. I love the fact we only live one state apart. I do believe you can cook, however, life does get in the way and realistically people don't record themselves cooking. Don't you miss the nineties.? Good to see the fam. Elsa is looking good enough to eat!! Em❤

So glad you are doing well. My husband had the same surgery in August 2023. It was a scary time but we got through it and he is taking Immunial Therapy for a year (he recently hit his half way point). I pray you like my husband have a continued healthy journey through this and look forward to seeing you get to your weight loss goals. God Bless

Hi Brian, I am with you too in that I started to lose weight in 2015 when my mother died and I have yo-yo’d plenty. I know what healthy eating is and how good I feel but I have not yet achieved the level I’ve always wanted to. A few months ago for me I injured my right knee. It hurts so bad to walk and I work on my feet eight hours a day. That amount of pain is what motivated me to say enough enough you need to finish this you need to do this. I’m 61 years old. I would like to enjoy my later years, especially when I retire. I’d like to be able to travel and go on hikes. So I’ll be with you on this journey. I have lost some weight in the past month. One of the first things I’ve noticed is when you’re eating healthy the cravings go away, and the obsession to eat more has been lifted. it’s staying with the plan. That’s always been my downfall so maybe we can figure it out together with the amazing community of people that have gathered here.

Great news !! So glad it’s over and you’re feeling better 🙏👏 God bless you and your family 💜 Oh and I KNOW that going plant based is the greatest way to lose any extra weight! I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and was 35 lbs overweight. I tried keto, lost 16 lbs, but had a gallbladder attack from the fat in the keto diet. The weight came right back. Came across a Dr McDougall video and saw how the caloric density worked. I’m actually 67 years old and remember Dr McDougall’s first book ! I had forgotten about it way back then as my husband was a meat eater and I didn’t have a weight problem, so I just never really got into wfpb eating. Now over 30 years later, one of his videos “ randomly” popped up in my KZfaq feed.😆 Fortunately I love vegetables, fruits and whole grains. I lost all the extra weight, NEVER went hungry and didn’t even exercise!! I have degenerative discs in my back so I lay down a lot ! Plus the Hashimotos makes me tired . No excuse mind you lol. Just to state that losing all the weight without suffering AT ALL was just absolutely hilarious 😂 Of course I DO take a b12 supplement and an omega 3 supplement, which is flaxseed oil, hexane free and cold pressed. I have a once a week cheat, usually a one serving cheesecake from the Walmart bakery and I eat what I want on holidays and birthdays. I enjoy my cheat days with zero guilt, because I plan for it. I just don’t make a pig of myself on rich foods though as I made myself sick one holiday! I shouldn’t have gone back for seconds lol. I’m so thankful for Dr McDougall! RIP Dr McDougall 💜🥲 He has no idea how much of an impact and influence he had on the people he helped and will continue to help ! Ok, I’ve ranted long enough. 😊

You know what Brian I’m going to do it along with you. I need to lose 50 lbs and I have been putting it off. I was diagnosed with Melanoma 5 years ago and have been doing well but I read about excess weight and carbs being “food for cancer”. Let’s do this Brian, I’m committed!
