For that purpose i think the CSB (Christian Standard Bible) or the NLT (New Living Translation) would be excellent. I'd highly recommend a good study bible. Επαγγελμα is an old word (from επαγγελλω) in place of the common επαγγελια, in N.T. only here and 3:13. Unfortunately I have read the article you're referring to and after doing some fact checking I found several errors. The teaching Dr. Walter Martin did is still accurate. And if you noticed when I accused the local church cult of teaching modalism I did so because of their own heretical bible. If they admitted to being wrong then they need to FIX their horrible bible, and STOP teaching heresy in it. Until that happens they are a cult. Furthermore they should use a recognized translation.

The recovery version of the bible was translated from the original text in Greek and we are not teaching any heresy in the bible. Ur story is all too common. I've heard some real horror stories. One person had come to Christ through the local church, then a year later had every one of witness Lee's books and even memorized large sections and was becoming a pastor in the local church after a year. But he finally met a christian who was interested in local church. During their conversations the man was greatly disturbed by how much scripture the christian new. The christian was shocked at what they taught n decided not to join n try to lead some ppl out. So eventually during one of their meetings the man asked the christian how he had learned so much scripture. The christian pointed to his bible on the counter and said "I read the bible every day" this man was horrified and realized since local church brought him to Christ he was given every book by Lee, every cassette, everything. But not a bible. The bible was not made a priority. It was unnecessary. The man left the local church. Bought a bible. Read it. Was rehabilitated by the body of Christ. His testimony is powerful. I'll have to find the recording I have of it.

Sounds so much like the other guru newage religions which except every pagan belief under the sun and then throw "j" esus in with it and teach love from the universe. I just met a great sister in Christ who was defending the faith on a Jim Carey video about his universalist guru religion. He said in the interview that he worships the god of the universe and gave a list of all the guru leaders from history, but then said Jesus, he was a bit uncomfortable when he said His name it was rather telling. So besides a bunch of non sequitur arguments which are null and voiding out your objections. Here is a major issue you won't want to deal with. Trinitarianism is the teaching that the only true God is eternal, and is 3 distinct persons. Lee taught a heretical form of modalism. Modalism teaches the Father became the Son, and the Son became the Holy Spirit. Lee takes that heresy to a new level and says that the Holy Spirit is now becoming the church. That's not biblical, it's heretical. Lee didn't understand the doctrine of the church which is why he taught only his cult (the local church) was the only church that existed in any given city they met in. Lee denied the inspiration and infallibility of the scripture because his special revelations contradict scripture. Lee and "the local church" have a long history of dishonesty, and suing Christians (something the new testament forbids). The newer, less biblkcal, less scrutinizong cri may have came out in support of the local cburch as a legitomate expression of christianity. But none of the people in CRI since walter martin has/had sat down with witness Lee himself and question him thoroughly regarding his teachings. The meeting between Lee and Walter Martin was recorded but witness Lee promised to send walter a copy of tge recording and did not, then when questioned he refused to release the tape to anyone, including walter martin. Seeing as though walter martin and Lee were able to sit down and discuss theology at great lengths and walter was able to ask all the hard hitting questions and get thorough answers and the contemporary christians are not it would be better to tale the word of a direct witness to witness Lee than those who try to cover up and even contradict his teachings. Furthermore... Who were the translators of the recovery version? I can make a google search and find the translators of the kjv, nkjv, nasb, esv, nlt, csb, and mev (several of its3translators and the editor i have spoken to at length and have personal contact with). What are tge names of tge recovery version's translators? What are their qualifications? I have to confess that I don't know who is right or who is wrong. someone tells me this is right and some says it is wrong, Oh, it causes more confusions and divisions among us. The fight today is not outside the church but inside the church. Good and bad is in God and not in man, but man step into God's position and started to judge. Lord charges us to love each other, even love our enemies. They might be wrong, but i do not dare to take God's role and judge. God will bless them if they are real and He will cause them to fall if they are not. But if they are real and I say they are not, God will judge at the day and we have to answer to Him, if they are real, then why are we persecute them as God's people? if what if they are real and we blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? so it is not beneficial for me to judge at all. i just love the Lord.

I judge them as wrong based on what GOD'S WORD says. so you see they are being judged by both of us. it's not a matter of blaspheming the Holy Ghost at all. that sin is attributing to Jesus Christ the works of Satan. that's not what's going on here. they are deceptive about what they teach. when one judges them right as you're doing, you're saying every church in a city is heretical and false if a local church exists in that city. that was witness Lee's position. so to judge them right is to judge all other churches as wrong. they have doctrinal heresy when it comes to their christology, soteriology, and ecclesiology. even God says we are to judge righteous judgment in John's gospel.

nope. that's outright heresy. that's the heresy of modalism. if God the father came as God the son then when God the son prayed in john 17 he'd be praying to himself. but God the son prayed to the Father because though they share the same nature/substance/essence/being, they are distinct persons. each person of the trinity is truly and properly the one true and only God but each person is not the other person. you should check out here on youtube a 3-4 hour video. just type in walter martin upci debate. you'll see the heresy of modalism get destroyed by the bible and the biblical doctrine of the trinity triumph.

I'm not offended at all. but i am contending for the faith once for all time delivered unto the saints. christ surely came to make men sharers in the divine nature in that we can become the sons of God through adoption. but experience must always be judged by scripture. i actually wrote a post today for the Master's Lanterns Ministries facebook page regarding the new apostolic reformation and the humanist view of empiricism that has invaded the church. i just submitted it to a group of ministers I'm friends with and when it gets approved by 2 more I'm going to be posting it. Probably by the end of the day. I'll post it here now -------------------- All the time in Pentecostal circles we hear those talking about being "drunk on the spirit". Barking like a dog? Drunk on the Spirit of God. Laughing uncontrollably? Drunk on the Spirit. Howling like a wolf? Drunk on the spirit. Clucking like a chicken? Drunk on the spirit. Slithering like a snake? Please note however that there is no indication of acting like animals, gold dust, angel feathers, uncontrollable laughter, or any of the other signs and wonders being promoted by the new apostolic reformation (NAR for short) happening here or anywhere else in scripture where it is chalked up to the work of God. Therefore when peter said "these men are not drunk as you suppose..." We should take it to mean that they weren't drunk in any way at all. This is what scripture, the inspired word of God, says. I've had many use a humanistic phrase "but in my experience..." or "if you had the experience..." or "if you would see the experience first hand..." to justify partaking in or promoting this stuff. I used the word "humanist". To be specific using the argument from experience is a form of humanism called "empiricism". What this means is that they reject scripture as the final and highest authority in matters of faith and practice. They aren't however going to throw the bible out. They'll either ignore it or twist it out of context to try and justify and promote their humanistic heresy. As Pentecostal and Protestant Christians we believe in the gifts of the Spirit. We also believe that scripture is the inspired word of God, immutable, infallible, and the highest and final court of appeal we have. We can demonstrate from scripture where experiences can be deceptive, we can also show from scripture it's claim to infallibility and inspiration. What this all means is that when experience conflicts with scripture (that has been properly and fully exegeted) and there's a conflict between the two, that the experience has been trumped by scripture and should be rejected. Experience never makes something right or biblical even if it feels good or supposedly brings you closer to God. In closing is the charge given by the apostle Paul in 1 thessalonians 5:21 when he said to "prove (or test) all things and hold fast to that which is good". If you judge your experience by your own experience or understanding the chance of being wrong is astronomical. However when you test things according to scripture then you're using scripture properly. Some may object to this but God says through the apostle paul that all scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for 4 things 1. Doctrine 2. Reproof 3. Correction 4. Instruction in righteousness. The reason for this is so that the Christian may be complete, and thoroughly equipped for ALL good works. When we fail to test all things, we are failing God. When we refuse to test all things, we are disobeying God. When we reject the admonition of scripture to test all things just so we can have an experience, we are then thumbing our noses at God in essence saying that our way is better than God's. He that has ears to hear, let him hear the words of the Lord, and let him hear what the Holy Spirit says to the church of Jesus Christ.

He sat down and discussed thrology at length with witness Lee who lied to the doctor about providing him with a copy of the recorded conversation. It's a good thing hank hannegraff doesn't speak for the REAL bible answerman, Dr Walter Martin, who's evaluation is in the description of this video in an mp3 file.
