I’m crying when watching this video. I have anorexia and this is the first video I have watched on anorexia that I haven’t been triggered by, in fact actually felt inspired to recover by. I feel like I relate to you so much. I love you, and I want to get better. but it’s so hard... videos like this, and the way you talk about food and life as a recovered individual, make it worth the effort in my mind... congratulations you beautiful person, and thank you for sharing this with the world. You make it a better place. Stay healthy❤️❤️

recovery was the hardest thing I have ever done but six years down the line it is still the one achievement I am the most proud of. No degree, no sucessful project in my job compares to the feeling of looking back (with love!) and seeing how far i've come. The absence of fear is everything. Keep going, love xx
@aussielegend6114
@aussielegend6114 Жыл бұрын
@@annwill358 I am so proud of you! Congratulations! That achievement is more impressive than any degree or promotion you could ever obtain. Can I ask, does TikTok and TikTok related trends make it difficult in recovery? Is it triggering? Because I find TikTok trends like ‘heroin sheik’ and etc. so frustrating I want to implode, I find it so triggering.
@annwill358
@annwill358 Жыл бұрын
@@aussielegend6114 thank you! you are so kind . it's a long road but every step is so incredibly worth it and in hindsight it is even more rewarding because even though recovery is my biggest achievement in life there are a lot of things I achieved that I would not have achieved without recovery. So there are things now that I just know I wouldn't have if I hadn't put in the emotional work. And when it comes to Tiktok.... triggers are so individual. I feel like I'm pretty immune towards tiktok because I already started recovery long before tiktok was a thing. but I can see how various trends could be absolutely triggering to others!!! Regarding ED discovery, for me personally, instagram posts are so much worse - as I've said triggers are super personal. What i do find is that when I am down Tiktok really enables downwards spirals - and not only enables them but FUELS them. Does that answer your question?

I remember watching that first video. I'm not going to lie. I haven't watched with any regularity, but I'm shocked watching: A. The change in you hair, energy, skin coloring and B. today while making dinner I also realized something. I didn‘t weigh any of the ingredients, not the oil, not the pasta, onion, cream or cheese. I even went back to get seconds (which I didn‘t eat up, because I felt full already, which I also feel proud of, because I could never leave a plate half empty before, all or nothing). and I realized how much I love cooking again. thanks ro for all the comfort you give me regarding food

That old video was the first video I saw on ED. It was the first time I was ever confronted with the truth. I had all the same thoughts and worries you expressed in the video. It was the first time something clicked for me, that I wasn't OK. Thanks to you I finally stopped living in denial that I was "just on a diet" and got help and I'm now doing great in almost a year of recovery! Thank you so much! I'd still be crying over the thought of eating cake if it wasn't for you.

What you said about certain foods becoming less novel and exciting in recovery really resonated with me. You don't need to restrict to appreciate food, but an almost manic obsession/appreciation is a symptom of being undernourished. Food is yummy and exciting sometimes, but we also shouldn't waste our lives depriving ourselves so much to keep the most mundane foods 'special' to us. That would be a tragic waste of our time on earth, to spend it just trying to maximize the taste/experience of every little thing we eat. Now that I am far into recovery, the idea of doing that sounds so absurd, undesirable, and really mentally ill. I can't connect with that part of me anymore and I am glad.

Something that I really like about this video is the fact that even though you're sticking to copying a video (hence 'excuse' to restrict to only that), you still had extra snacks. I think moments like that symbolise true recovery and really what makes you such a great role model for those still struggling with restriction!

I wish you could post a picture as a comment because my most genuine reaction to this is probably best described by my current huge smile and teary eyes. I started my recovery journey within month’s of Ro’s and her account has been such a major rock for me. I remember watching this video at the time and being like, wow I could never do that. Yet here I am today, fully recovered, and resonating so incredibly closely with every single comment made about how much more my life has become. Thank you, Ro, for being such a beautifully strong role model, for showing people like me that not only is it okay to gain weight and recover, but that it is the best choice I would ever make in my life. And that it was just that - a choice I could make and follow through with and be successful in. I have so much love in my heart for you.

This is by far my FAVORITE video that you have ever made! The progress you have made in 2 years is truly commendable and absolutely inspiring. I cannot wait until I am at this point in my recovery. Thank you, Ro, for always bringing a positive and educational side to the ED community on social media that can be toxic at best and downright dangerous at worst. Even though I don’t know you, I am so proud of you, because I know that recovery is really freaking hard. You go girl 💪🏼 and to anybody else struggling with this horrible disease, always remember that it does get better! I definitely cannot say that I’m fully recovered but I am so much further along than I was and I see the benefits. Yes there are days that these benefits may be overshadowed by ED thoughts, but recovery is not linear. Just keep fighting ❤

I do not have an eating disorder but I suffer from OCD and I find your videos challenging the toxic and irrational thoughts to be very helpful and inspiring in my case.

The first video is actually me right now at 26. Trying my best to recover after a massive relapse. I can’t wait to see my progress in two years! This video is really inspiring. You are motivating me to get healthier and happier. I know you’re helping A LOT of people. ❤
