Did you know that historians think they might know what Jesus ate for The Last Supper?
While looking for Easter recipes, I’ve been delving into food history to look at some of the early Passover recipes that historians think the disciples may have shared with Christ as their last dinner together.
This may have included lamb, cholent, charoset, bitter herbs and unleavened bread. Join me as I try and recreate them all and learn more about food history from Jerusalem in the 1st century.
Don't forget to comment with ideas for future episodes, and subscribe to become part of history!

So kid Jesus sounds like the inspiration for Twilight Zone episode "The Good Life". Another really great episode. When you do food history, you really go back.

I missed Twilight Zone so never had a chance to experience it, but these stories always felt like Saturday morning cartoons of the young versions of favourite characters getting up to wacky adventures. There’s one story where Jesus is hanging out with a dragon! And thank you for the kind words, as ever!

Very interesting to see how much the Passover meal has changed between then and now (I vaguely recall learning about the Seder plate at school, and being confused by the roasted egg). Might look up a cholent recipe...

I’m ashamed to say I’ve very little experience with Passover traditions, but I enjoyed the culinary conversion!

Nor have I, honestly - just what I learned in RE on those occasions when we were studying Judaism. Forgot to mention before: apparently Asian fish sauce is very similar to garum, if you wanted an easier substitute.
