FAQ: Can you do this course from India? We would say don't jump the gun yet. For these courses registration is open worldwide. But we would suggest registering only after you have your COPR, Study Visa, or any other Visa that legally entitles you to work in Canada in your hand. Because these courses are expensive and what if you register for the exam and other processes are delayed. Mind it, for CSI it costs more to give the exam at a location outside Canada and for most of their exams you have to appear for the test within 6 months to 1 year of registration. The benefit of these courses is the most when you are physically present in Canada. What you could do is, once you get your Visa/COPR, you could register and start studying and appear for the exam when you arrive in Canada. These courses take 2-4 months of preparation.The information in the video is to provide you basic knowledge about the banking industry before you arrive, and to give you a little bit of head start. Also, refer to the official websites for detailed information.

Good information and well explained video. Could you also provide some insight about financial analyst role and related certification? What are your views about CBV (Chartered Business Valuator) designation for Investment/Finance roles. Would really appreciate if you could share your knowledge regarding this area. I am looking for information regarding portfolio management, research analyst, credit analyst, investment banking, valuation analyst, investment analyst roles and certification which can get into these roles. Thanks in Advance.

Bank job that title is bit confusing- i guess you guys need to elaborate what bank you guys are referring to( retail, business, corporate, private, investment banking etc) . If I am not wrong with CSC or CIFC, you wont get job in financial market/investment banking( M&A, brokerage sales, origination & syndication, structuring, institutional sales, investment research etc) - here in the UK a retail bank admin get around 20k GBP(40k CAD) - if that is investment bank then is around 200k to 500k+ (500K CAD TO 1MILLION CAD) - both are bank job - different type though. Overall you guys are doing a great job with your videos on canada lifestyle for new immigrant- keep rocking guys!
@InTheNorthCanada
@InTheNorthCanada 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks raj! Yes we understand Bank Job is quite a broad term. But the video was primarily focused towards CIFC and CSC. And for most of the banking roles, be it in retail or not, CSC is the basic certification that is either required or atleast advisable to understand the Canadian Financial Industry in general. 🙂👍🏼
@InTheNorthCanada
@InTheNorthCanada 3 жыл бұрын
Even for Tanu she does not work in branch banking at all. Its more of an Investment Rep role for which again CSC was the basic requirement apart from other specific certifications that would be required in the course of time for further progressions.

Thank you again for so much informative content !
@InTheNorthCanada

Yes those courses can be done virtually. But we do not recommend it doing before you have a confirmation of PR. As these are canadian specific certifications, it may not benefit you unless you are here. So recommendation would be to wait for your confirmation of PR and then register for these exams and start preparing for it when you are still in your home country and gove the exam as soon as you reach Canada. But if yiu want to do these courses in order to help you get a job in Canada directly from your home country then you can do it from India but you have to think wether you want to take that risk of spending Canadian dollars while you are still in your Home country. For CFA, yes it is widely recognized in Canada. Go for it! 👍🏼

Heyyy guys! ❤❤❤ You guys are true gems! All your videos are amazing and extremely informative! 👏👏👌 Love, love and loveeee to both of you! ❤❤❤😇 Also, I have a query... I've done my Masters in Chemistry... So, can I get a job in bank, inspite of being a science student? Would they prefer recruiting people with science background, in banks? Eagerly waiting for your reply! ❤

Thanks for appreciating our content Sneha. Yes you can change your career field. But as explained you'll have to do the required certification to bridge the knowledge gap and would have to be flexible to start at a lower level

What do you mean by banking experience ? In banking we have front office and banking operations...are you talking about the course which we need to do if we want for a front office job ?
@InTheNorthCanada
@InTheNorthCanada 3 жыл бұрын
CSC and CIFC are the most basic courses that one must do if they want to venture into banking in Canda be it front or back. These courses provide the basic and some advanced knowledge of the banking system in Canada. Check the career map below to learn further about the courses you may want to do for various roles within the financial sector: www.csi.ca/student/en_ca/careermap/index.xhtml

Hey I'm actually planning to do a finance program. I've noticed that most of the bank jobs are financial/investment reps, customer rep,etc. So are most of the available jobs like sales related?
@InTheNorthCanada
@InTheNorthCanada 3 жыл бұрын
Retail Banking does involve sales be it any role. Teller, CSR or FSR or Financial Advisors are required tomeet certai target. Though for Investment Reps its more transactional and resolving client queries and less of sales

@@InTheNorthCanada Oh ok thanks. Also if i do a program in finance will that be a restriction to work in Audit/accounting. I've done my acca also. The reason i didn't pick an accounting program is that there weren't any graduate certificates and most of them were 1 year courses.

Thanks for mentioning main points to apply for job in bank, as i am from banking background it is really good information to know, i just have one question as you are HR, do Company allow people for interview if they are on visit visa. Is it true that visit visa can be converted to work permit in 1 day.
@InTheNorthCanada
@InTheNorthCanada 3 жыл бұрын
So mostly when you apply for any job, the first question the Recruiter asks is are you legally eligible to work in Canada. But if you are on just a visitor/tourist visa, we don't think that you can say YES to that question. But if an employer agrees to give you a job offer even in this condition ofcourse you can apply for work permit. But to be honest it is a rare case, cz if any employer does this (i.e. give a job offer to a person who is not eligible to work in Canada) they often need LMIA approval too. We have talked about this process in detail in this video - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mtukfsSqqJqsnZc.html

Yes networking is most important in canada. Networking is what will get you references. Though in this case, Tanu got the job purely based on transferable skills and certification. There was no reference or network involved.
