College football was always a business... Just a selective few flourished from that Business.. now the NIL floodgates have open coaches like Saban run for the hills with many more behind him.they miss the good old day of paying a player thru boosters and envelopes from random students.

Totally depends on the level of play as well. Of course the power five schools are more business minded and they always have been.

My son is a 2025 recruit right now being recruited by many different programs from from FBS power 5 on down to division 2 schools.. and just as he said I know and realize the game has changed and I know what his talent level is and I know what he needs he's a 6 ft 3 180 lb Nickel/ Stricker he's a late bloomer who's best football is in front of him and he's @ a school the where the coaching isn't the best. So I know that he's going to need a red shirt year and probably a spring before he's that guy on an an FBS level and I understand those days are gone and you don't get that time anymore so although he's being recruited and have a couple FBS offers that's not what we are going to do. I will tell all parents I don't care how good you think your son is listen take your time and be open to every program on every playing level that is interested in your child because this is a business in the game is not the same. The blessing of being to a high school that's not so good is he's had the opportunity to play many positions and do many different things CB/SS/NICKEL/ OLB /TE/WR and this is the plan going forward find a FCS Mid Major even a Very Good D2 like a Fayetteville State a school that wants and needs your skill set and is going to develop you and your skill set so you can get to the point to reset the table again. But if you get out there and thank your kid is the s***like most parents do these days and you bite off more than he's ready for you can find yourself on the outside looking in very fast....so we not going to play the FBS game until he's ready to hit the door running.
