This piece is a relatively modern piece, believed to have been composed in 1896. No, it is not medieval, but it predates vinyl records, radio music broadcasts, and television... which is why it would be so impactful for a listener. @@Zepego-jk2iz

Mr Acker, I stumbled upon this video 16 months ago which, at 70 years old, inspired me to learn acoustic guitar. I had no previous experience of any musical instrument whatsoever, but I thought "wouldn't it be amazing to play like that". I've now had 16 months of weekly live lessons of 1 hour from a fantastic tutor. I've learnt music theory and I'm well on my way to playing jazz, and I love it! I know the years may catch up with me before I'm any good at Spanish guitar, but at least I have a new goal in life. A huge thank you Brandon 🤗🇬🇧

I played this for my guitar recital to graduate as part of my repertoire. This was the only piece I felt a close connection with simply because of how beautifully it was composed. To me, the transitions from minor to major throughout the piece portrays the ups and downs in life with the tremolo being the constant and continuous breaths that we take. And last but not the least, the piece ends on a "major key"(positivity prevails) . Tarrega was a Legend.

Just WOW ... four reasons: one: here, you prove your advice on an even tremolo. Two: you overcome the fretboard to produce an always legato, easily separated, melody line in both voices; three--What flow! ... no discernible position sound breaks! Three: the thumb/bass line stands so clear. And four: the treble then becomes so easy to listen to, separately and harmonically. Okay, and five: your (if-I-dare) rubato endows greatness to the piece that I've always hoped for. WOW, bravo! . . . .

I'm taking lessons with Brandon. He would say that the pattern is PAMI and to start practicing it on the high e string on its own at 60 bpm with a metronome until you can play it clean, then move up in 10-15bpm increments. There is no other way to get good at it unfortunately. Best of luck!

Moose Archer is better to practice on the b-string , just my humble opinion.

@Moose Archer My advice is you shouldn't stuck with PAMI. Try every possible combinations. PIMA/PMIA/PIAM etc. You will see the results. I too am classical guitarist, hopefully will become a PhD student.

This is by far the best version i have seen! Not just flawless technique, but also great dynamics. He truly masters how and when to play louder and when to play gentle. He finds the perfect balance. This is very difficult and is overlooked by many musicians. This is in my opinion one key to what makes this guy world class! Phenomenal, phenomenal playing man!

The way that Spaniards play the guitar is unique, for the simple fact that they don't play the guitar with their hands, they play it with their heart, and when one begins to learn to play the Spanish guitar, it is understood. You not only have to learn to touch it, but to understand it as if it were part of your body. A great greeting from a Spaniard, a very good video with a lot of passion !! I recommend that you see a lot of Paco de Lucia, the greatest guitarist there has been on earth at a level higher than anyone you can ever see. Greetings and blessings!

One instrument and a divine player. Shows what we've truly missed in the era of DAWs and synthesized music, without any soul. Brandon is our figurative lodestar who shows what great music from the far ages is truly the panacea to our yearning soul.. Brandon is truly doing God's work here.
