Join us as we ride our recumbent trikes around a portion of the Lake Dillon Reservoir RecPath loop (near Frisco & Breckenridge, Colorado) on a gorgeous fall day. Join me, the REAL Grizzly Granny, as I ride my recumbent Sunseeker CSX "fat tad" trike, usually with my husband and team mate, Gary. There will be trail adventures, as well as story telling and recumbent trike accessory hacks that I have found work for me. My riding philosophy is, "Safety, Comfort, & Kindness", and I will be discussing these subjects in my videos. Although my channel is for everyone, it is "geared" for senior women, women who are new to recumbent trikes, or women who are just desperately looking for a new way to exercise and enjoy the out doors in these difficult and stressful times.

Ah. Looks familiar. One of my favorite riding areas. Loved your presentation. Very good info for those that want to ride Summit County. Have you experienced the ride from Frisco to Copper Mountain?.....a real thriller on the downhill. I have yet to do Copper Mountain to Vail Pass. Also, the scenery speaks for itself. Good job.

This was our first ride in Summit County! HaHa, I don't know if I can handle that thriller downhill you speak of! Sounds awesome, though! Great info for others looking for great rides up in that area! --GG

I noticed that you use the throttle to start off and I’m wondering if y’all have had any issues with the torque of the motor pulling your rear wheel out of the dropouts. We’ve had the same trikes from Utah trikes for almost two full years and initially we had the rear wheel pull out of the dropouts numerous times until one of their mechanics came up with a small bracket that slides over the axle on both sides and holds the axle in place. I was wondering if they started just installing these brackets from the beginning. In addition the brackets are screwed into the holes that are used for mounting the luggage racks and one of the screw’s sheared off. We drilled 1/4” holes in each bracket and installed larger bolts and lock nuts. Anyway just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue? We’re enjoying your channel. Hope you keep posting. Hello! I do occasionally use the throttle (just barely any pressure to the corner of it) to start off from a stand still...but usually on KZfaq videos when I want a faster take off on film. Rarely use throttle except for really steep hills, or to rapidly get across a street at a light. However, neither Gary nor I have had any issues like you are describing. Gary's trike, same model, is a year or so older than mine, which was new in June '23. I don't see a way to send a photo here in replys, or I would send one. Blessings-GG

Additional info: We just have the usual quick release axle for the rear wheel, and see no additional brackets at all. Wonder if they did a re-design? Are you still having this issue? We have found UT to have great customer service, and this issue sure sounds like a major one. Wish I could send a photo. I will say that those throttles seem to have a lot of torque on the initial application! I have to go as easy as I can. Hope this all works out for you guys. -Blessings, GG

We really haven’t had any problems since the bracket was installed. We too rarely use the throttle because it is really touchy and we have to be careful using it. Also we have Rohloff hubs instead of derailleurs so I don’t know if that makes any difference. Ours will be 2 years old in April. Anyway we like the trikes and are mostly pleased with them. We live in Cloudcroft, NM which is at 8700’ so we really have no rides that are not either up steep hills or down and streets are not in very good shape or are gravel so not great riding conditions but the trikes do a pretty good job. The back wheels will spin out if it’s too steep and gravel so we can’t do many of the trails in the forest. Anyway enjoy yours and thanks for the videos.
