Here's a quick codeless method for doing different sorts of fluids simulations based on recursive displace. In this one, I also cover some other good tricks for rendering out height maps with no pbr material or geometry.

Another gem from paketa12. I found some interesting effects with a low strength in the slope - looked like a microscopic view with just some parts in focus.
@paketa12
@paketa12 4 жыл бұрын
the low harmonic spread/gain for the noise will increase the slip. You can go with the points position into the second input but set the offset to 0 - I was a bit clumsy at that moment and I leave it like both inputs for the slope; but as I said there's no rule, is a feedback in which you make your own . Thank you Brian for your support.

Amazing video, thanks for this! Can I ask, how do you get your container to fill the right hand side window with the video output when you drag and drop it into the bar at the top? I've been trying to do it for ages but it just takes me into the container's child network
@rleeton1
@rleeton1 3 жыл бұрын
Figured it out haha, in case anyone else is wondering; right click in the network editor, go to Display and turn off backdrop TOPs. Then turn on the blue display button for the TOP, click Split Left/Right in the top right Pane Options dropdown and in the Pane Type dropdown (top left of the pane) select TOP viewer (or just Alt + 4)

Thanks for sharing. Starting right about at 10:15 you've made a change and I can't seem to match the look of the noise exactly. I'm guessing the change was Feedback >Common> Fill Viewer > Native Resolution. Could you confirm? Looked on your Patreon but didn't see the tutorial.
@paketa12
@paketa12 4 жыл бұрын
hi Jim, how you doing!? The change I did was due to a little clumsiness when connecting the displace top - I switched the wires. The noise for the displace inside the loop is almost default and the displaced weight is set to 0.001. First input into the displace should be the b&w texture we have in the loop and the second one it takes the displace - by doing the other way you get different resolution inside the feedback if you're noise top has a different one. I'll have the file for download soon, also the UV and Normals components. Thank you so much for your support.

Great tutorial!! When I'm adding the UV with the feedback after I mask out the R and G to combine the data into the blue channel it just looks like the UV. When I preview as points the plane isn't being displaced either. Any ideas on how to make sure the feedback is getting passed through to the blue channel? I made sure to set the input noise function to the feedback as 32-bit float (Mono + Alpha) like you did.
@paketa12
@paketa12 4 жыл бұрын
make sure your texture is rgb. It seems like you only have rg and so the add on blue channel doesn't count
@blankensmithing
@blankensmithing 4 жыл бұрын
@@paketa12 That fixed it! thanks! In your tutorial on making the UV the last step was to set the color channel to RG. I ended up adding another reorder to the end and set the color mode to RGB
@JimRMorrison
@JimRMorrison 4 жыл бұрын
I've gotten stuck here too. Think I brought over the UV from the 'Voronoi tricks' toe OK. But at the point where we 'add' the select and UV together, I don't get the coloured noise cloud. Will try and work backwards to where the color channels need to be set differently, as I'm not sure where in the chain that needs to happen. ie. Which texture.
@blankensmithing
@blankensmithing 4 жыл бұрын
@@JimRMorrison That's exactly what I was running into. Put down a 'reorder' TOP after the UV and in the Common tab set the Pixel Format to 32-bit float (RBG) and then send it to the Add. That should fix it. You don't necessarily need to use the reorder TOP. you can use any TOP that will let you modify the pixel format.
