When you think about PVC, you're probably like me, and consider it as a tube. Well, it's pretty easy to get it into flat material for the shop. I flattened a 4" piece of schedule 40 PVC in about 20 minutes. You just need a heat gun and a flat surface.
Odds are, you've got loads of the stuff sitting around the house. Why not recycle it into something useful?

Your comment, "OMG you should totally use this in a well-ventilated area, I think I'm getting high." Made me laugh out loud, in quiet surroundings. Everyone is now staring at me hahahahaha hahaha

I've been doing this a while now and it's caused my abilities to explode with potential. People are not aware of just what a wonder material PVC is: cheap, abundant and extremely versatile. You can cut it, drill it, thermoform it etc. One thing I would point out: IF you're going to grind or sand it USE A RESPIRATOR! And clean up as you go. It creates a storm of fine dust that can stick to tools, work surfaces etc. and is highly unhealthy to breathe. It would probably be better to hand sand it. That said, if you do sand it save a few vials of the dust. When it's mixed with superglue it creates a strong gap filler that's nearly the same in appearance as the plastic itself. You can make INCREDIBLE stuff with PVC. I've made dagger props (to look at not wreak havoc), custom belt clips, tools, even a small model spaceship.

You never cease to amaze and teach me something! Great idea on this one Peter, so many uses. Nice thing is it's a pretty cheap material and available almost anywhere. I'm working with PVC this week too for casting Alumilite. Hoping to get that video shot and up by the weekend.

i do suggest using blue gunk in a well ventilated area because while making pvc wings for our play we always got off task until it finally hit us that we were high off the fumes most of the time

PLEASE be very careful heating PVC. I was working on a project in my shop with no mask and was very lucky the little chlorine that got in me didn't kill me. I was always told as long as you're not burning the material you'll be safe, but I don't know that that's the case.

The deformation temperature of PVC is around 200°F. Set your over to 200° and heat the cut pipe, cut side up, until it starts to sag. 200° is well below the decomposition temperature of 284°, so this should be safe. You can also find white, grey and clear PVC sheets online, but they can be pricey.

There is no understating how damn powerful the smell of PVC cement is. It will literally knock you back a few feet if you aren't expecting it.

You can put it in the oven to heat it evenly, then flatten it. Love your channel by the way, lots of "crazy" ideas!

PVC has a good memory, if reheated it will curl (ish) back to its original shape.

I'm totally doing this. Thanks! Don't know why I didn't think about this after watching craft people make sheets out of plastic bags. This is so much better.

Cool experiment Peter! You're right why do they only come in dirty or white? Totally going to dig up my neighbor's irrigation system now. You know I was waiting for you to glue up layers and turn them back into a pipe.

Actually it works better if you move the heatgun in long strokes back and forth on it. And then just spread it out once it is nice and fully floppy, then put your weight on a board with the PVC under it, it works alot better than clamps.
