Күн бұрынGiant Squid is an interesting naval unit. It comes with some surprising abilities and many glitches can be created around them. As a naval Infantry unit, its uses perhaps are limited for such a video but still there may be many interesting parts!

I think it's more because of the rate of fire rather than the damage... Squid punches once every 32 frames, deals 50 damage... Squid grabs once every X frames (hard-coded), deals 15 damage.

The problem is, Boomers usually fight back, unlike the entangled ships.

@@bormishaUnless it's 1v1 or squids outnumber enemies you shouldn't tangle, just micro slapping, sinking ships 1 by one with several squds.

The giant squid didn't have to hit his head much to figure out a plan for the Boomer Submarine... But that was just the plan, getting rid of the Boomer is the real headache... Literally.

I always wonder why Giant squid uses his head to attack Boomer sub rather than use his tentacles like he did on typhoon sub.... But turns out it deals more damage....

I don''t know if i'm dreaming, but in my memory, I could make the giant squid to attack the dreadnaught missile before it is launched. Of course with the force attack hotkey and very slow gameplay speed setting. It was on skirmish mode. the attack animation was like corrupted colors and tentacles, and after the missile explodes, the squid is stuck on land.

Giant squids are the best Soviet counter. Only because Soviet navy has no immunity to squids.

Neither navy has immunity to squids. It's just that allies have countermeasures.

@@eneg_ yuri boomers cannot be grabbed by squids, which makes squids highly vulnerable due to their low hp. Allied dolphins are a hard counter to squids. Not only do they force squids to release the boat they grabbed, but the sonic attacks also stun squids for a short period of time.

0:15 fun fact, units that reveal stealth/submerged units are said to keep revealing units where they died. This is an engine bug that apparently Ares DLL was supposed to fix, but there are reports the bug is still there. 2:59 I'm 75% sure a Squid attacking a Squid-ed ship won't help, then again it might; I can't quite tell what exactly it is that makes the Dolphin Sonic Zap and Repair IFV eject/destroy parasites since their weapon and warhead codes are quite different. 3:42 is this exclusive to Elite Squids? I can't tell at all how this works, both regular and Elite Squid Grabs are the same... EDIT: I found it. It's Culling=yes on the Squid Grab Elite Warhead.

@@warmowed it's not a timer. The grapple does 15 damage every x amount of frames(hardcoded, we don't exactly know/can't modify the delay between frames) until the unit dies, the squid somewhat dies or, the unit is released from squid's infection weapon via dolphin attack. Also yes. Elite Squids have the Culling weapon property to their weapon which instakills 50% or less units.

@@dracmeister Apparently it has to do with ConditionRed and ConditionYellow (percentage where color of heathbar changes). Culling means the ship will sink at ConditionRed if the Squid is regular/Green or veteran, and sink at ConditionYellow if the Squid is Elite. (Culling is actually usable for all units, not just Squids).

Chronosphere would kill Squids and Dolphins because, while they're VehicleTypes that would normally be chronoshifted, they have the key Organic=yes set, so they're treated like Infantry in that regard.

Kinda fitting since the Giant Squid was phased out or retconed during the events RA3, with it's position supplanted with the Terror Drone that has now amphibious capabilities and a stun ability to ensure their target does not escape.

again great Video, Giant Squids are... asses if you dont have Dolfins xD But i have one question. I dont know, what it was. But in the Vanilla RA2 YR they got Pink glowing tentakes. Was this an bug? Btw, this Song is called Midnight Swing by Jules Gaia. For everyone how is asking :D - i Love it.

It's a bug, yeah. Those were the original squid graphics in beta and usually only seems to happen if they attack Robotanks.

Is there a reason why your replays don't have many Giant Squids? They're really powerful but you kept building Subs only. 2:18 I didn't realize you could build a Tesla Reactor on a bridge like that.

Huh, was expecting the outro to be something like the Robot Tank fleeing onto land and yet the Squid still tries to kill them... At least that's what I remember in the classic Yuri's Revenge. The Squid would go all technicolour and have a unique attack animation for Robot Tanks when on land... Also, none of the uses involved sinking landed aircraft when they take off :P

Today I discovered: 1) squids can kill commando 2) commando can shoot in water O: 3) subs can't attack squids what??? :O 4) squids can attack robot tanks???? 5) robot tanks can FLY WITH SQUIDS WTF

3) subs CAN attack squids but don't auto attack squid when it have grabbed other ship, try playing red alert 2 or yuri revernge with soviets against soviets, you gona lose some squids against subs, and also subs can still launch torpedos (but take more between shots) but can not turn while grabbed by squid so keep squid moving a bit

Please play mental omega missions because they are very hard but mysterious and mental omega have total100 missions and very very Co ops play and capture enemy in every mission

Everytime I see people suggest Mental Omega on a channel that mostly plays vanilla gives me a slight twitch. Nothing wrong if you really like Mental Omega but I have my own gripes with it personally. It's a great mod but suffers a teeny bit on feature-bloat, and effects graphics that often leave you unsatisfied with how much damage/gameplay you achieved. The campaign's story is phenomenal. It's just that playing them is a slog. They're cool but not exactly fun to play. The campaign likes to throw beefgate city at you in macro maps where your easiest(and probably best) recourse for action is just to feed more units into the meat grinder. The micro missions are fine, I guess. There's just some of them that are tedious and slow-paced.
