Another awesome day at Brize Norton. On the 18/6/2020 was 80th Anniversary of Charles De Gaulle's speech to Occupied France. To celebrate this the Red Arrows and Patroullie de France would do flypasts over Paris and London in Formation. They would over Paris first then transit over to RAF Brize Norton before departing to London.
So I thought head up to Brize on Thursday to see them arrive and depart and anything else that was going on. I went to Willow Meadow because the Runway in use was 07. They scheduled in around 2pm. The weather absolutely awful. Thick low cloud and heavy rain. We were surprised the flypast even went ahead but they finally turned up around 2pm. The Reds came down in three's. Sadly no run and break because the weather was so horrible. Then the French came in. They looked to be all over the place as they approached was quite a sight to see. They eventually all came in.
Then it was the long wait for their departure. I headed round to the other side mainly because I wanted to get them taxying out and get their brand new C130J support aircraft which I missed arriving while walking back to car but, I saw it arriving. they eventually went out at around 16:30pm. The sound was awesome really good to hear hear some real jets roar again. Then the French Alpha jet support aircraft departed. My first time getting that and the new C130J. Other than that I captured a few of Brize locals. A C-17 arriving and departing on circuiting training at Prestwick. Watch out for the low pressure condition on wings as climbs away. An RAF MRRT departing and arriving I added a bit of footage form later into the same take off as it was the same aircraft.
Overall despite the weather conditions and getting absolutely soaked It was still great to see them. probably be my own chance to see it this year.
Anyway thanks for watching. Like, comment and subscribe for aviation related content.
