Are you employing anything outside of the G Dorian mode? Your leads are always tasty. I ask because I'm trying to learn modes. I also had a question regarding the backing track. What chords did you play to get the Dorian feel? Thanks for an inspirational jam.

I think the backing chords are just Gm7 to C7 so it's a ii v chord progression. I put a lot of emphasis on the E note to get the dorian sound. I'll play Em7b5 arpeggios as well as include the E in the Gm Pentatonic.

Chris Zoupa is the reason you emphasized the E is because it's the sixth note in the Dorian mode, and that distinguishes it from Aeolian? Or was an artistic choice? Thanks you for responding Chris, I appreciate all the work you do. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.

I think of the modes as being either minor or major (except Locrian he's kinda 1/2 diminished). The Aeolian and Phrygian both have a b6 so If I highlight the natural major 6th in the Dorian scale it sets the scale apart from his other minor mode brothers.

i loved chris's part but jens stuck to running up and down the scale it almost didn't sound musical and there was little to no technique, feeling or emotion in his playing style.
