Greetings all.
We’ve been having a bit of fun making a little tongue-in-cheek video using a brand new recording of one of our favourite hits from the ‘80s. Something to while away the time before the release of our forthcoming album. Hope you all like it.
The new recording is available for streaming and downloading at Spotify and iTunes, respectively. And most likely Amazon, too.
Thanks in advance to all those who’s footage we have used in the making of this video. We hope you don’t mind us using it.

@@extremelynormalperson I feel the same way. It's hard to explain, but it kind if evokes an image of a parent seeing what has become of their child (both good and bad). I know it's not a good analogy because in some sense we were the invaders of the land, not children of the land, but idk that superposition makes a powerful symbol for some reason

I loved this song when it first came out in '86. It hasn't dated either & the Red Box sound is still sounding fresh as it ever was. This updated version, with a really rather brilliant sign of the times video to go with it too, is just wonderful. I was 26 back then & New York was top of my destinations from London. I had so much fun but the times were so different to now. Thanks Red Box for this fantastic gem. We all deserve it!!!

Weird when I read up this song on Wikipedia and realised Red Box are actually British. Maybe an American band will release a song mocking Boris Johnson and the mess the UK is currently in. I wouldn't be offended!

Recorded something on BBC4 over Christmas and caught this at the closing of an 80s edition of Top of the Pops. So pleased. Hadn't heard it for years. So nostalgic. Love the song.

A great song is a great song, whatever the decade. Loved this for almost 40 years. I remember being taken for my haircut as a little kid and this was on the radio. The barber was going crazy because I was singing it and shaking my head whilst he was trying to cut my hair.

I was searching for this song! I'm British (I know, I didn't get the best lottery card in life) but my grandmother moved to California in 1960, and I have two American uncles. I've visited many times, mostly the West and East coasts, but I did once go to Iowa on a business trip (that was strange). Anyway, I've just been reading all the 87th Precinct novels by Ed McBain, I'd recommend them, and I just wanted to say I love the US. You're fabulous people.

That wistful refrain just popped in my head for no reason, and I haven't heard the song for yonks, it's such a clever, catchy and thoughtful song with a hint of Celtic, and the updated video just shows how relevant it still is. Typical of great pop songs in the 80s and 90s it is intelligent and melodic, and distinct. In the mould of Tears for Fears, Prefab Sprout, etc.

Where's the peace and understanding? Where indeed? I'd love this to be played at the protests. I always thought of the song as not just a pisstake of the vulgar but also an homage to the reasonable and great parts of American culture. Maybe I read it wrong but the sheer catchiness and fantastic harmonies seemed a nod to the very best of west coast music.

Was satirical and an answer to the record company execs who wanted a hit written for the US market, so they wrote this because they could, they didn't want to.
