there may have been some turbulence, but no collapse, he simply stalled his wing (unintentionally)
@sobanovo11 жыл бұрын
yep, just clear exit from full stall is needed, and sorry but yes, this could happen even on en-b if you don't let the wing fly

HEAVY HAND !, the wing trying to come back into normal flight and he keep his hands on the brakes, stalling it. When he finally decides to put his hands up, the glider comes back to normal flight. .

Lauren Martins I think what you misinterprete for heavy handed is him giving the wing exactly the Input it needs to stay open in heavy turbulence, balancing between parachutal, backfly and stopping surges. For shure a very good pilot (also acro?)

First of all bravo for the Wing, amazing those tips stayed open. Secondly bravo for the pilot who did exactly the right thing. Yes the pilot had to fly deep in he brakes to keep the wing open. When it's too much work to keep the wing open, then full stall to hopefully get through the turbulence. The full stall seemed clearly intentional. And the pilot flew away, that's how I know the pilot did the right thing. ;-) One of my favorite all time video clips -- Thank you for posting this -- and I never want to fly in these conditions again! 🤢🦉🦅🦋

He was on the brakes a lot yes, but did that cause it? Later on, the wing looks exactly like my wing when I did a full stall at the SIV.

if you look at the wing you can see that the reason this all happened, it was because the pilot was using too much brake stalling the wing.

Nice recovery, Just wondering would this happen on a mid range 1/2 wing? Would the same effect occur as your wing?
@sergiourquijo40003 жыл бұрын
The hard truth is that maybe it will. The problem here was a unintentional stall wich lasted more than necesary. the amount of brake needed to get the wing to stall is much more than the amount of brake needed to keep the wing from exiting the stall once it is stalled. Probably an en-a wing is more pitch stable and stall resistant but the pilot makes all the difference in this cases.

that makes me wonder what do you do when it get that nasty, not much to do than trying you best to control the wing but its obvious that in this case looks a bit out of control, i am not sure, is he keeping it in control or is this just luck?

No, a 1-2 wing would not respont as violent as this wing. One big different that you can see in the video is how the wingtips responds. It is much energy in the wing and the wingtips hits quite hard forward when they tries to start flying again.

@Jess, I REALLY hope you're not a paraglider-pilot because you are in NO way representative for all those fine women and men sharing this wonderful sport. If one cannot respect that someone wants to stop they have a problem. No sports are for everyone. Deal with it and have a easier life. AND sort your attitude out!!!! Happy landings :)
