I 1000000% agree. People like to talk about “immersion” but that needs to be balanced with general playability. The controls are so janky in this game. The best parts about this game are the graphics and story… that is IT.

Its really interesting how different people experience games differently. Anything that you called boring or useless, I found interesting and immersive. The off time in missions where its just riding and dialogue I still found fun because of being able to experience the characters. any activity outside the main story you just called boring and useless is weird. Because especially the slow hunting which requires a lot of patience I found rewarding and fun. Im just gonna focus on the first 15 minutes of the video but there are many things in your video which I feel like you could just Dispute with immersion. Btw your issues on the shooting mechanics are mainly because you're on controller. I played this on Pc and I never found myself peeking in and out.

His problems aren't with the controllers. Rdr1's gameplay was much more responsive. Rdr2's gameplay should be close to something like max payne 3 instead of going backwards in terms of responsiveness.

the game is definitely a bit of a different experience than most open world AAAs nowabouts that's for sure. I personally liked not having Arthur run around like a crazy person so I could enjoy the exquisite world, I didn't think the controls were at all clunky, the story was beautiful but heartbreaking, and the side missions were interesting enough character wise that I could forgive them being repetitive. for me it was an immersive and often relaxing experience, really nice to have a break from the crack junkie pace of, say, an Ubisoft game like Far Cry 5 (which is still great fun and good in other ways, but just chaos.) big respect for finishing such a long game that you weren't feeling though. when I'm not interested in a game I just drop it and never look back lol

I personally enjoyed almost everything about this game, albeit with some adjustment or "adaptation," needed for it's pace and it's clunky nature. Some of the mundane / boring pieces of this game are what draw me to it. I live in a very dense city (Denver) and it's constantly noisy, our neighborhood in particular is hyper. I feel like I am constantly overwhelmed by noise levels and such. So, a game like this where I can spend time in the wilderness and just vibe out listening to the birds and common chatter, horses, etc, is nice for me. I was born and raised in a small farming town in Tennessee (population ~600) and after having been forced to move to the city and living here for a while, this game actually transports me home in some instances. It's familiar. But anyways.. I didn't mind the story, but I also didn't think it was amazing by any stretch. It's almost generic, but the characters are all fully named and slightly backstoried enough for me to keep memory of who everyone is. The slow nature of the opening and game in general is something I could see bohering somebody but it doesn't bother me. I have spent the past decade playing online shooters such as Call of Duty, while drinking and smoking pot. As a newly sober man (about a month) I find that these slower takes and slower paces are perfect for me. There's a lot of immersion to be had, but it depends on preference and what you enjoy. For example, I don't always find the hunting and gathering aspects fun in themselves.. but what I find fun is the payout at the end of said task. Running out of stamina holding a bow aimin at a deer is frustrating, but for me, getting the kill is rewarding because it wasn't easy all the time. So many games are point and click, super soldier, but this games makes you earn things. When you called it a chore simulator, I actually thought that was a very unique way to put that. And despite having fun with the game, I agree with that label for it. It IS a chore simulator to an extent, as well as a survival simulator. There's a lot of time spent simply making sure you have enough food and such. I enjoy having to clean my gun, keep up on meat, take time hunting.. because the "instant gratification," of most games I've played has grown tedious. It's led me to developing real life patterns of finding something boring if it doesn't happen instantly. McDonald's theory in the works. As far as the controls, they are pretty rough and I definitely agree. I have been on PC for a long time and played many many games, but I don't think I have ever been as bad at aiming as I am in this game. It feels like combat and gunplay "over corrects," itself and is greased on rails. Turning the character feels sluggish at times and even something as simple as walking into a building seems clunky. Not to mention that when you're on horse, barely touching somebody will send them into a fit. I saved a girl who was trapped and when I rode my horse near her to give her a ride, I accidentally touched her with the horse and she panicked and ran away hahahaha. Something that it seems a lot of commenters here have forgotten, or never knew, is that you are sharing an opinion. Your opinion doesn't make anyone else's wrong, because that is how opinions work. But these people are getting so upset by your take that they are attemping to insult you, say you have low attention span, etc. It's pathetic. All I can say is that this game in particular had what I was looking for in a game. A slow pace, a lot of minor shit to do and a world filled with bizarre encounters. I am done with the cracked lobbies of skill based arena shooters, I've grown tired of the overly grindy RPG mechanics that many games use (speaking specifically of leveling systems), I never enjoyed racing or fighting games.. I needed something that I could just sit with, take my time and know it really didn't matter what I did. At the end of the day, I don't think I heard anything in your video that I would say was wrong or incorrect. It's a beautiful game visually, a bit of a mess mechanically, tedious by nature and not really anything "new," other than it being modern for what it is. The things that bother you do not bother me and I had a great time with this game from start to finish. Replayability is there for me because of the online side of things and the customization. Also, you could have a total "outlaw," playthrough where you just fuck shit up in every town. But then again if you do not like the game, any style of playthrough would suck. Nice effort on the video, I look forward to seeing more of what you have to say on other games. Sorry some of these numbskulls feel the need to belittle you for having a diffrent opinion. Shows how different humans can be, because most things you said were bad, I actively find to be positives. Cheers! 🎉

think it was an amazing game from start to end, the story, the exploring, discoveries, the characters and yes even the pacing and the chores. my ONLY gripe is melee weapons and not being able to use them dynamically, rather its bound to how close you are to an enemy and the animation that comes with it. but to each their own of course

@@nordicwarriorgaming4953 I did actually think it got better at chapter 4 or somewhere. But nowhere near as good as people make it out to be. The story isnt really anything special either that would pay off for all the suffering. I spent like half the game just on my phone during walking or riding sections since you can Just automate them with the cinematic camera. Btw, would you recommend the First game? @@pancwake8444 I would recommend the first game if you like open world RPG's. Its a bit slow and clunky (like pretty much all modern open world games) but its nowhere near as slow as RDD 2. Plus the story and writing are significantly better, difficulty is more balanced, less time wasting and better combat and mission design. It has flaws for sure, but is a blast to play in my opinion. On a side note you don't actually need to buy a rerelease. Because the original game is backwards combatable I think. At least it is on Xbox i'm not sure about PlayStation. In short yeah id recommend it if you like that kind of game.
