Reactions here in the comments seem to be mixed; some like it as an opener, some don’t. I agree with you though. I think it set a good tone, and it was nice to start off with something new.

They should open with Can't Stop! They should also play more Stadium Arcadium (since apparently John won't play anything he didn't write, rip I'm With You, One Hot Minute and Dark Necessities). I really can't get into those newer songs, no offense, but it feels like Anthony is just saying random gibberish on the lyrics, and it's not even funny of catchy (Tippa my Tongue is fire though)

I saw them a few years ago at the Hollywood Palladium and they started that show with Can’t Stop (it is a strong opener). I don’t like the lyrics for the verses of Black Summer, so I get where you’re coming from. I still like the new stuff though.

Be nice if they played Dark necessities or raindance Maggie, Im Australia's biggest Chili fan I think they should open with can't stop or around the world too. At the end of the day bro they are experimenting, I'm going to the concert 29 January in Brisbane I'll let you know what i think.

@@chriscone8954 Yeah even if I don't like the new songs I'm going to the next show of them I can no matter what (I live in Brazil so it might be a while, hopefully they come this year). I would kill to hear Dark Necessities live but I guess that's that, maybe they don't play any Josh songs because he didn't leave the band in such good terms (like John just said "I'm back" and he's out)? Not sure They still my favorite band, I think even if the band had broke up when John left they still would be, they just have too many good songs hehe

How about you try to find a guitarist/bassist and drummer and just get them to just "jam" something out of the blue. That's what this is. They don't rehearse it..they jammed for about a year for Blood Sugar before forming their songs.
